VILLA in eclectische trant met overwegend neo-classicistische detaillering uit 1890, naar ontwerp van de bouwkundige J. de Groot, gesitueerd in villapark 'De Boomberg'. De villa ligt iets teruggerooid, in de as van de Spieghellaan.
Omschrijving
Villa van twee bouwlagen op vierkante plattegrond onder afgeknot schilddak met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen. De witgepleisterde gevels zijn voorzien van hoeklisenen en een cordonlijst. Op de begane grond is het pleisterwerk uitgevoerd met een schijnvoeg in blokmotief en zijn de lisenen gebosseerd. Schuifvensters en glasdeuren met recht gesloten bovenlicht onder rechte profiellijsten. De symmetrische voorgevel (N) telt drie vensterassen met de entreepartij in een middenrisaliet. Boven de paneeldeur een dubbele glasdeur naar klein balkon met gietijzeren hekwerk. In het dakschild een plat afgedekte dakkapel met voluutdecoratie op de wangen. De zijgevels (O en W) tellen elk twee vensterassen. Aan de westgevel links een plat afgedekte houten serre op bakstenen plint. Grotendeels blinde achtergevel (Z) met risalerende middenpartij. Links van de risaliet een dubbele glasdeur, rechts een plat afgedekte lage aanbouw met deur en daarboven een gepleisterde schoorsteen.

De laat negentiende-eeuwse villa is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van een villa in eclectische trant met neo-classicistische detaillering. Villa of two storeys on square ground plan under truncated hipped roof with Dutch tiles. The white plastered facades are provided with corner pilasters and a string course. On the ground floor the plasterwork is executed with a false joint in block motif and the pilasters are rusticated. Sash windows and glass doors with straight closed fanlight under straight moulded lintels. The symmetrical front facade (N) has three window bays with the entrance section in a central risalit. Above the panelled door a double glass door to small balcony with cast iron railings. In the roof slope a flat-topped roof dormer with volute decoration on the cheeks. The side facades (E and W) each have two window bays. On the west facade to the left a flat-topped wooden conservatory on brick plinth. Mostly blind rear facade (S) with projecting middle section. To the left of the risalit a double glass door, to the right a flat-topped low extension with door and above it a plastered chimney.
Valuation
The late nineteenth-century villa is of general importance because of its architectural and cultural-historical value as a representative example of a villa in eclectic style with neo-classical detailing.
