Inleiding
PRIEEL, behorende tot het complex 'De Blauwe Vogel', gebouwd in 1903 in Chalet-stijl naar het ontwerp van E. Verschuyl in opdracht van G. van Mesdag als onderdeel van het landgoed 'Quatre Bras' en gesitueerd aan de zuidzijde van de Mozartlaan. Het prieel is geplaatst aan de zuidwestzijde van de voormalige tuinmanswoning.
Omschrijving
Het prieel is opgetrokken in hout op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder een ver overstekend lessenaarsdak op gesneden consoles. De oostzijde bevat een open middendeel. De hoeken worden geaccentueerd door ramen met een decoratief uitgevoerde bovenzijde, gescheiden door een gesneden dunne hoekstijl. In het interieur zijn hoekkasten getimmerd.
Waardering

ARBOUR, belonging to the complex 'De Blauwe Vogel', built in 1903 in Chalet style to the design of E. Verschuyl on commission of G. van Mesdag as part of the estate 'Quatre Bras' and situated on the south side of the Mozartlaan. The arbour is placed on the southwest side of the former gardener's residence.
Description
The arbour is built in wood on a rectangular ground plan under a far overhanging lean-to roof on carved consoles. The east side contains an open central section. The corners are accentuated by windows with a decoratively executed upper part, separated by a carved thin corner stile. In the interior corner cupboards are fitted.
Valuation
The arbour is of general interest on account of architectural and cultural historical value as a rare and well-preserved example of an arbour in Chalet style from the first quarter of the twentieth century, belonging to the former estate 'Quatre Bras' and as part of the complex 'De Blauwe Vogel', situated in the northwest villa area of Hilversum.
