Omschrijving
Inleiding.
GEDENKTEKEN gelegen in de zuidelijke punt van het voorplein van het onder monumentnummer 21894 van rijkswege beschermde voormalige Gouvernement. Het op 28 maart 1921 onthulde monument, dat invloeden vertoont van de Neo-Renaissance, werd ontworpen door drie verschillende kunstenaars. De algehele opzet en de beeltenis in de centrale medaillon werden ontworpen door Huib Luns, de toenmalige directeur van de school voor kunst, techniek en ambacht in Den Bosch; August Falise maakte het model van de vrouwenfiguren aan weerszijden en de Bossche beeldhouwer Jac. Goossens werkte tenslotte het geheel in steen uit (de namen van de uitvoerenden staan vermeld op de zijkant van het middendeel).
Het beeld werd aangeboden door een comité van Brabantse industriëlen ter gelegenheid van het 25-jarig ambtsjubileum in 1919 van de commissaris van de koningin, mr. A.E.J. baron van Voorst tot Voorst. Tijdens zijn commissariaat, van 1894 tot 1928, ontwikkelde Brabant zich van een overwegend agrarisch gewest tot een beginnende industriële samenleving.
Omschrijving.
Het symmetrische, vrijstaande gedenkteken bestaat uit een hoog middendeel op vierkant grondplan en twee lagere vleugels op rechthoekig grondplan, alle op een granieten sokkel. Centraal in het middendeel aan de voorzijde een bronzen medaillon met de omlauwerde beeltenis van de commissaris waaronder de inscripties 'Mr. A.E.J. BARON VAN VOORST TOT VOORST / COMMISSARIS DER KONINGIN / 1894 1SEPT 1919' en 'INDUSTRIEEL Nrd BRABANT'. Aan de achterzijde binnen een decoratieve omlijsting en onder de Brabantse leeuw een bronzen plaquette waarop de namen van de leden van het comité. In het bovenste deel op de randen decoratief beitelwerk. Het middendeel wordt bekroond met een gestileerde bijenkorf, symbool van de nijverheid. Ter linker zijde de personificatie van 'De Gedachte' (onderschrift), een in gedachten verzonken vrouwenfiguur in geplooid gewaad en blootvoets met als attribuut een boek en tegen een omrand achtergrondtableau waarop laurierbladeren. Zij representeert de leiding der industrie. Ter rechterzijde de personificatie van 'De Daad' (onderschrift), eveneens in geplooid gewaad en blootvoets met als attributen een hamer en een tandrad tegen een omrand achtergrondtableau waarop eikenbladeren. Zij representeert de industriearbeiders.
Waardering.
Het gedenkteken is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van de industriële ontwikkeling van Brabant tussen 1894 en 1919. Introduction.
MEMORIAL located at the southern point of the forecourt of the former Gouvernement protected nationally under monument number 21894. The monument unveiled on 28 March 1921, which shows influences of the Neo-Renaissance, was designed by three different artists. The overall design and the portrait in the central medallion were designed by Huib Luns, the then director of the school for art, technique and craft in Den Bosch; August Falise made the model of the female figures on either side and the Den Bosch sculptor Jac. On the rear within a decorative frame and beneath the Brabant lion a bronze plaque with the names of the members of the committee. In the upper section on the edges decorative chisel work. The central section is crowned with a stylised beehive, symbol of industry. On the left side the personification of 'Thought' (inscription), a woman lost in thought in pleated garment and barefoot with as attributes a book and against a framed background tablet decorated with laurel leaves. She represents the leadership of industry. On the right side the personification of 'Deed' (inscription), likewise in pleated garment and barefoot with as attributes a hammer and a cogwheel against a framed background tablet decorated with oak leaves. She represents the industrial workers.

The memorial is of general importance. The object possesses cultural-historical values as a particular expression of the industrial development of Brabant between 1894 and 1919.
