Inleiding
HEKWERK uit 1904 behorend bij het museumcomplex. Het hekwerk is geplaatst ten tijde van de verbouwing van het krankzinnigengesticht tot museum. De ornamentiek van de smeedijzeren hekken is stilistisch verwant aan de toentertijd in zwang zijnde Art Nouveau.
Omschrijving
De erfscheiding tussen de museumtuin en de straat bestaat uit een gemetselde borstwering met eveneens gemetselde hekpijlers en kolommen, waartussen de smeedijzeren hekken zijn bevestigd. De borstwering heeft een hardstenen plint en een eveneens met hardsteen afgedekte ezelsrug. De hekpijlers aan weerszijden van de twee toegangshekken hebben zandstenen koppen met driehoekige afdekstenen waarin 'MUSEUM' staat gegraveerd. De rechter toegangshekken staan voor een oprit naar de voormalige hoofdentree van het museum.

The boundary between the museum garden and the street consists of a brick parapet with likewise brick fence piers and columns, between which the wrought-iron fences are mounted. The parapet has a sandstone plinth and likewise a sandstone-clad drip moulding. The fence piers on either side of the two access gates have sandstone tops with triangular coping stones on which 'MUSEUM' is engraved. The right access gates stand in front of an approach to the former main entrance of the museum.
