Inleiding
TUINKOEPEL uit ca. 1937, behorende bij het boerderijcomplex 'De Griendheuvel', dat gebouwd is in 1937 in een vanaf 1926 ingepolderd gedeelte van de Biesbosch. De octogonale tuinkoepel staat op een kunstmatige verhoging, die enkele gebouwde ruimtes bevat die deel uitmaken van de boerderij. De terp is te beklimmen door middel van een gemetselde trap met betegelde treden aan de wegzijde en via het door middel van een verdiepingsdeur bereikbare terras.
Omschrijving
De tuinkoepel is vanuit een octogonale plattegrond opgetrokken in baksteen, hout en glas en staat onder een met rode daktegels en zadelvorsten gedekt octogonaal tentdak met een pumeelbekroning. De koepel heeft een gemetselde onderbouw en een bovenbouw van grote, tussen houten penanten staande ramen. De penanten staan op hardstenen poeren en zijn met elkaar verbonden door de onderdorpels. In een van de acht zijden bevindt zich een deur met raam.

De tuinkoepel is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische en de architectuurhistorische waarde.

GARDEN PAVILION from circa 1937, belonging to the farmstead complex 'De Griendheuvel', which was built in 1937 in a part of the Biesbosch that had been poldered since 1926. The octagonal garden pavilion stands on an artificial elevation, which contains some built spaces that form part of the farmstead.
