Introduction

Detached DWELLING HOUSE 'Sonnevanck' from the second half of the nineteenth century, erected in Eclectic style with elements of the Chalet style, and located in the village centre of Jisp. Around the house is a garden layout with some monumental trees. The site is accessible via a simple bridge with cranked half-timbered balustrades.

N.B. On the rear side there is a new or renewed wooden extension under an adapted mansard roof, which is of secondary importance for protection.

Description

Erected on a T-shaped floor plan, entirely plastered dwelling house under a roof with suppressed hollow tiles, overhanging shallow-pitched gabled roofs. The transversely placed section is two storeys, the longitudinal part to the right of it single storey. All around runs a grey painted plinth, profiled in the transverse section, with above it a plastered basement with rectangular spandrels on the front.

The front facade (N) has in the transverse section on the ground floor two coupled six-light sash windows under a frieze with the name 'Sonnevanck' in capitals. Above this a drip moulding and a parapet with three rectangular spandrels. On the first floor three coupled round-arched windows with simple horizontal glazing bars, the arches supported by rudimentary capitals. Along the eaves a stepped frieze. The longitudinal part has a front door with fanlight and to the right of it two windows with four-light lower sashes and double St. Andrew's crosses in the fanlights. The surrounds run through the basement. The symmetrical end east facade of the longitudinal part has a rectangular, basement-piercing, half-timbered pattern in the plasterwork with St. Andrew's crosses above the two four-light windows with double St. Andrew's crosses in the fanlights. On the attic storey two coupled diagonal-arch-form six-light casement windows. On the rear side is the aforementioned wooden extension. Under the overhanging lean-to roof of the extension is, in the longitudinal part, the back door. In the rear facade of the transverse section resting on the basement are two four-light windows. On the first floor two equally high windows but with six-light glazing bars. Further the same stepped frieze as on the front. The symmetrical long west facade of the transverse section has on the ground floor a main structure supported by two pilasters, which run through the basement, with on either side two pairs of six-light casement glass doors with two-light fanlights with rounded corners. On the first floor above the main structure a six-light window with surround and above the doors rectangular horizontal spandrels with a subdivision into three unequal planes. Under the overhanging roof a moulding with ornamental wall anchors.

Valuation

The dwelling house 'Sonnevanck' is of general importance on account of its architectural and cultural-historical value as a representative and well-preserved example of a nineteenth-century country house for the gentry, erected in Eclectic manner with elements of the Chalet style. Furthermore, the property is of importance as an image-forming component of the varied historical ribbon development of Jisp.
