Inleiding
Herenhuis met bedrijfsgebouwen gebouwd in het derde kwart van de 19de eeuw. De toegepaste bouwstijl is traditionalistisch.
Een gedeelte van de bedrijfsgebouwen is jarenlang als bierbrouwerij in gebruik geweest. In de jaren twintig van de 20ste eeuw kregen de bedrijfsgebouwen ook een woonfunctie.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis met bedrijfsgebouwen met een carré-vormig grondplan. Haaks op de achtergevel van het woonhuis en aan de linkerzijgevel van het woonhuis bevinden zich de bedrijfsgebouwen. In een gedeelte van de bedrijfsgebouwen was een bierbrouwerij gehuisvest. De overige bedrijfsgebouwen kregen reeds voor de Tweede Wereldoorlog een woonfunctie. De gevels van de vml. bedrijfsgebouwen vertonen verbouwingssporen.
HERENHUIS Het herenhuis telt twee bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met een zadeldak met muldenpannen. Rechthoekige houten T-vensters met tweedelig bovenlicht.
De vensters dateren van omstreeks 1997. Rechthoekige houten voordeur met tweedelig bovenlicht. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen en hardsteen.
Symmetrische indeling voorgevel. Gepleisterde plint. Voordeur in een hardstenen omlijsting. Vensters en deur eerste bouwlaag in een boogvormig spaarveld. Vensters en deur met hardstenen dorpelstenen.
Middendeel voorgevel uitlopend in een topgevelachtige dakkapel. Dakkapel met een zadeldakje met overstek op houten consoles. In de topgevel twee smalle rondboogvormige vensters met aan de bovenzijde een klein rond venstertje. Onder de dakrand boogfriezen. Rechterzijgevel met in de eerste en tweede bouwlaag dezelfde vensters als in de voorgevel. In de topgevel rechterzijgevel een rondboogvormig venster met hardstenen dorpelsteen. Topgevel met dakoverstek en boogfriezen. Linkerzijgevel met in eerste bouwlaag een rechthoekige houten deur met aan de linkerzijde een ovale vensteropening. In de topgevel van de linkerzijgevel een rechthoekig venster. Dak met overstek en onder de dakrand boogfriezen.
Achtergevel met aangebouwd bedrijfsgedeelte en in de eerste en tweede bouwlaag een rechthoekig venster.
Van het INTERIEUR is onder meer het volgende van belang.
De structuur van het interieur van het woonhuis is in tact.
Hal met vloer met marmeren tegels. In de woonkamer links een groot plafondornament en een marmeren haardlijst. In de woonkamer rechts marmeren haardlijst en plafondornamenten. Authentieke trap met hoofdbaluster in gietijzer en houten spijlen. Boven de trap enkele plafondornamenten. Houten paneeldeuren.
Aan de linkerzijgevel van het woonhuis een bakstenen muur die de verbinding vormt met een vml. schuurgebouw. In deze muur een grote houten segmentboogvormige poort. Rechts van deze poort een klein houten poortje. Op deze muur een niet authentieke balustrade.
BEDRIJFSGEBOUWEN Haaks op de achtergevel van het woonhuis een vml. bedrijfsgebouw in twee bouwlagen onder een schilddak met pannen. Dit gebouw werd omstreeks 1920 grotendeels verbouwd tot wooneenheden. In het achterste gedeelte van deze vleugel was tot omstreeks 1920 een bierbrouwerij gehuisvest.
Binnenplaatsgevel en achtergevel vertonen verbouwingssporen.
De vml. bedrijfsvleugel evenwijdig aan het herenhuis telt eveneens twee bouwlagen onder een zadeldak met pannen. De eerste en tweede bouwlaag werden eveneens tot wooneenheden verbouwd. De zolder had de functie van opslag van hop en brouwgerst. In de zolderverdieping zijn de halfronde openingen nog aanwezig die dienden voor een goede ventilatie van het brouwmateriaal. Een gedeelte van deze vleugel werd in 1975 door brand getroffen. Dit deel werd van een nieuwe kap voorzien. Binnenplaatsgevel en achtergevel vertonen verbouwingssporen. Aan de kopgevel aan de straatzijde een aanbouw in een bouwlaag met lessenaarsdak. In de topgevel van deze kopgevel boogfriezen en enkele boogvormige openingen. In de kopgevel aan de tuinzijde diverse verbouwingssporen.
De derde vleugel evenwijdig aan de vleugel haaks achter het herenhuis telt een bouwlaag onder een zadeldak met pannen. Ook deze vml.
bedrijfsvleugel werd omstreeks 1920 tot wooneenheden verbouwd.
Binnenplaatsgevel en achtergevel vertonen diverse verbouwingssporen. In de kopgevel aan de straatzijde een rondboogvormige houten schuurpoort.
Aan de linkerzijde van deze poort een kleinere segmentboogvormige houten poort. In de kopgevel aan de achterzijde een niet authentiek venster. In de topgevel twee kleine ronde openingen.
De interieurs van de drie bedrijfsvleugels zijn diverse malen gewijzigd.
Waardering
Het herenhuis met vml. bedrijfsgebouwen bezit cultuurhistorisiche waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling in de architectuur van herenhuizen met boerderijgebouwen in de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw. Het geheel bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de ontwikkeling van boerderij met brouwerij uit de 19de eeuw tot herenhuis met bedrijfsgebouwen. Het herenhuis bezit architectuurhistorische waarde wegens het bijzondere belang van het object voor de bovenregionale geschiedenis van de architectuur.
Ensemblewaarde ontleent het herenhuis met bedrijfsgebouwen aan de markante ligging aan de rand van de bebouwde kom van Papenhoven. Het object is tenslotte van algemeen belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en deel van het interieur van het herenhuis en de cultuurhistorische waarde van de gebouwen als geheel.
