Inleiding
Kerkgebouw van de Hervormde Gemeente van Grevenbicht gebouwd in 1851 naar een ontwerp van de architecten Damen en de Wit uit Someren. De toegepaste bouwstijl is Traditionalistisch met elementen neogotiek. In de onmiddellijke nabijheid van het kerkje is de voormalige pastorie van de Hervormde Gemeente gesitueerd.
Omschrijving
Eenbeukig kerkgebouw op een rechthoekige plattegrond afgedekt met een zadeldak met leien. De zuidwestzijde van het kerkje is afgerond.
Op het dak een vierkant klokkentorentje met in elke zijde een spitsboogvormig galmgat. In dit klokkentorentje een luidklok van omstreeks 1851. De vier zijden van het torentje zijn bekleed met leien.
Het spits torendakje is bekleed met koper. In het middendeel van de frontgevel een houten spitsboogvormige dubbele toegangsdeur van omstreeks 1980. Deur in een hardstenen omlijsting. Aan weerszijden van deze deur een spitsboogvormige nis. Frontgevel uitlopend in een topgevel met hierin een rond stalen venster met roedeverdeling. Venster in een hardstenen omlijsting.
Zijgevels van het kerkgebouw met hoge bakstenen steunberen gedekt met natuursteen. In de zijgevel aan de noordwestzijde van het kerkje een rechthoekige houten deur in een hardstenen omlijsting. In de kopgevel aan de zuidwestzijde van de kerk en in de zijgevels in totaal negen hoge spitsboogvormige stalen vensters met kleine roedeverdeling.
Structuur van het INTERIEUR is vrijwel in tact. De volgende interieuronderdelen zijn onder meer van belang. Portaalruimte met vloer met authentieke plavuizen. Kerkruimte met authentiek houten tongewelf.
Kleine houten kansel onder een houten baldakijn met houtsnijwerk en rustend op een houten console.
Achter de kerkruimte de kamer van de kerkenraad met vloer met authentieke natuursteen tegels.
Aan de voorzijde van de kerk direct rechts achter de erfscheiding bevinden zich vier grafstenen van leden van de Hervormde Gemeente van Grevenbicht waarvan een grafsteen voor een predikant van deze gemeente.
Waardering
De kerk van de Hervormde Gemeente van Grevenbicht bezit cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke ontwikkeling van de Nederlands Hervormde kerk in een hoofdzakelijk katholiek Limburg. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door het bijzondere belang voor het oeuvre van de architecten Damen en De Wit en de samenhang tussen exterieur en interieur. De kerk bezit ensemblewaarden vanwege de situering aan de rand van de bebouwing van de kern Grevenbicht en is daarmee van belang voor het aanzien van deze plaats.
De kerk is van belang vanwege de redelijk hoge mate van architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en een deel van het interieur en is tevens van belang in relatie tot de visuele gaafheid van de omgeving. Single-aisle church building on a rectangular floor plan covered with a gabled roof with slate. The southwest side of the church is rounded.
On the roof a square bell tower with in each side a pointed-arch-shaped sound opening. In this bell tower a bell-ringing bell dating from around 1851. The four sides of the tower are clad with slate.
The pointed roof of the tower is clad with copper. In the central section of the front facade a wooden pointed-arch-shaped double entrance door dating from around 1980. Door in a hardstone frame. On either side of this door a pointed-arch-shaped niche. Front facade ending in a top gable with therein a round steel window with glazing bars. Window in a hardstone frame.
Side facades of the church building with tall brick buttresses covered with natural stone. In the side facade on the northwest side of the church a rectangular wooden door in a hardstone frame. In the end gable on the southwest side of the church and in the side facades a total of nine tall pointed-arch-shaped steel windows with small glazing bars.
