Inleiding
Omstreeks 1935 gebouwd WEEGHUISJE voor het wegen van goederen en met goederen beladen wagens. Het niet meer als zodanig in gebruik zijnde, op de kade van de haven van het dorp Ooltgensplaat staande weeghuisje is gebouwd in een traditionalistische stijl die verwant is aan de destijds in zwang zijnde Delftse School. De houten vlonder van de bij het huisje behorende weegbrug is niet meer aanwezig en ter plaatse bevindt zich thans een klinkerbestrating. Het weeghuisje functioneert nu als winkeltje.
Omschrijving
Het vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond, in baksteen in kruisverband opgetrokken weeghuisje staat onder een met rode Oudhollandse pannen gedekt zadeldak, voorzien van steile dakschilden met ongelijk hoge dakvoet. Het huisje heeft aan de straatzijde één bouwlaag. Aan de overige zijden heeft het een zich beneden het maaiveld bevindende tweede bouwlaag. De op de straat en de niet meer aanwezige weegbrug gerichte gevel bevat een groot, rechtgesloten venster, waarvan het rechter deel waarschijnlijk op de plaats van een voormalige deur. De linker kopgevel bevat een deur met kruisraam onder een liggende ellipsboog. Het huisje is aan deze zijde beneden het maaiveld uitgebouwd en voorzien van een deur, die toegang gaf tot een ruimte waarin zich onder meer de weeginstallatie bevond. De op de haven georiënteerde achtergevel bevat een luik onder een liggende ellipsboog. De gevel staat onder een fors overstek op houten korbelen, waarvan de aanzetten staan op uitgemetselde kraagstukken. De rechter kopgevel is onderin voorzien van een boogdeur met daarboven een venster met kruisraam eveneens onder een liggende ellipsboog.
Waardering
Het weeghuisje is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde, architectuurhistorische waarde en stedenbouwkundige waarde.

Around 1935 a WEIGH HOUSE was built for weighing goods and wagons laden with goods. The weigh house, which is no longer in use as such and stands on the quay of the harbour of the village of Ooltgensplaat, was built in a traditionalist style related to the Delft School then in vogue. The wooden platform of the weigh bridge belonging to the weigh house is no longer present and there is now clinker paving at its location. The weigh house now functions as a small shop.
Description
The weigh house, constructed in brick in running bond from a rectangular plan, stands under a gabled roof covered with red Oudhollandse tiles, furnished with steep roof slopes with unequal eaves height. The house has one storey on the street side. On the other sides it has a second storey situated below ground level. The facade facing the street and the now absent weigh bridge contains a large, straight-headed window, of which the right part is probably in the place of a former door. The left gable end contains a door with cross window under a flat elliptical arch. The house is extended below ground level on this side and furnished with a door, which gave access to a space in which, among other things, the weighing apparatus was located. The rear facade oriented towards the harbour contains a shutter under a flat elliptical arch. The facade stands under a substantial overhang on wooden corbels, the bases of which rest on built-up brackets. The right gable end is furnished at the bottom with an arched door with a cross window above it, likewise under a flat elliptical arch.
