Omschrijving
Inleiding
Notariswoning uit de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw (1857 en 1890). Het in eclectische trant gebouwde pand is zeer markant gelegen in een bocht aan de oude IJsseldijk. Voor het huis staat een smeedijzeren hek; aan de achterzijde een ruime, lager gelegen tuin. Het voormalige koetshuis is vanwege wijzigingen voor bescherming van ondergeschikt belang.
Omschrijving
Pand vanuit rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken in bruine baksteen onder een hoog schilddak met grijze tuile du nordpannen. Op de nok staat nog één van de twee schoorstenen. De voor- en zijgevels worden beëindigd met een brede daklijst en geprofileerde goot; de gevelhoeken worden benadrukt door achtzijdige kolommen. Vanwege het hoogteverschil tussen straat (dijk) en tuin heeft de voorgevel openingen over één bouwlaag en de achtergevel over twee lagen.
De symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel heeft een hoog opgetrokken, door het dakvlak brekende middentravee met pilasters aan weerszijden van de entree en het balkon daarboven. Dubbele entreedeur met getoogd bovenlicht onder een smeedijzeren balkon op consoles. De pilasters aan weerszijden van de dubbele balkondeur eindigen in een iets getoogde kroonlijst. In de voorgevel voorts vier hoge iets getoogde achtruits schuifvensters met geprofileerde omlijsting. In de zijgevels enkele vensters van hetzelfde type zonder lijstwerk. De souterrainvensters en deuren in de zijgevels zijn grotendeels gewijzigd. Centraal in de achtergevel op de begane grond een deur (ca. 1920) onder bovenlicht, erboven een houten balkon en balkondeuren. Aan weerszijden van de deur vensters uit ca. 1920; op de verdieping (woongedeelte) hoge openslaande vensters onder bovenlicht.
Het interieur is grotendeels oorspronkelijk wat betreft indeling en detaillering. Voorkamers aan weerszijden van de centrale hal met stucplafonds, blinden voor de vensters en de oorspronkelijke kozijnen en deuren. In het souterrain plavuizen in de hal en een vroeg 20ste eeuwse keuken.
Waardering
De notariswoning is van algemeen cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang vanwege:
- de typologie, het is een representatief voorbeeld van het type herenhuis dat in Wijhe veel voorkwam
- de gaafheid van het exterieur en delen van het interieur

Introduction
Notary's residence from the second half of the 19th century (1857 and 1890). The building constructed in eclectic style is very prominently situated in a bend along the old IJsseldijk. In front of the house stands a wrought-iron gate; at the rear a spacious, lower-lying garden. The former coach house is of subordinate importance for protection owing to alterations.
Description
Building erected from a rectangular plan in brown brick under a high hipped roof with grey tuile du nord tiles. On the ridge stands still one of the two chimneys. The front and side gables are finished with a wide cornice and moulded gutter; the gable corners are emphasized by octagonal columns. On account of the height difference between street (dike) and garden the front gable has openings over one storey and the rear gable over two storeys.
The symmetrically arranged front gable has a high, through-the-roof-plane projecting central bay with pilaster strips on either side of the entrance and the balcony above. Double entrance door with arched fanlight under a wrought-iron balcony on corbels. The pilaster strips on either side of the double balcony door end in a slightly arched cornice. In the front gable furthermore four tall slightly arched six-light sash windows with moulded surround. In the side gables several windows of the same type without moulding. The basement windows and doors in the side gables have been largely altered. Central in the rear gable on the ground floor a door (c.1920) under fanlight, above it a wooden balcony and balcony doors. On either side of the door windows from c.1920; on the upper floor (residential section) tall casement windows under fanlight.
The interior is largely original as regards layout and detailing. Front rooms on either side of the central hall with stucco ceilings, blinds for the windows and the original window frames and doors. In the basement flagstones in the hall and an early 20th century kitchen.
Valuation
The notary's residence is of general cultural, architectural-historical and urban planning importance on account of:
- the typology, it is a representative example of the type of manor house that was common in Wijhe
- the integrity of the exterior and parts of the interior
- the very prominent and character-defining situation on the old dike
- the building style
