Inleiding
TURBINE MET MAALINRICHTING van de Fa. Schneider, Jaquet & Cie te Koeningshoffen bij Straatsburg, 1907. De turbine werd in 1907 in de oorspronkelijk uit de zestiende eeuw stammende watermolen van Stadbroek te Sittard geplaatst, in combinatie met de voor die gelegenheid omgebouwde eikenhouten maalstoel van de Fa. Limpens uit 1867. De Stadbroekermolen is onder nummer 33713 reeds van rijkswege beschermd en omvat een van origine laat-zestiende eeuws molengebouw, uitgebreid in 1861; een zeventiende-eeuws molenaarshuis, in 1871 verhoogd met een verdieping; een landbouwschuur uit 1847; een koestal uit 1849; een ketelhuis met schoorsteen uit 1864; graanopslagruimten en een woonhuis uit 1875. De omschrijving betreft een uitbreiding van de rijksbescherming met genoemde turbine en maalinrichting.
De gehele Stadbroekermolen werd, inclusief turbine en maalinrichting, in 1995 in opdracht van de gemeente Sittard respectievelijk gerestaureerd door het architectenbureau Mertens, Voorvelt & Hamers te Hoensbroek en B.A.T./Roebroek, samenwerkende industrieel restaurateurs te Sittard. Alle waterbouwkundige werken, waarvan niets meer resteerde, werden geheel nieuw ontworpen en uitgevoerd en zijn voor de bescherming van ondergeschikt belang.
Omschrijving
De turbine van de Stadbroekermolen is een zogenoemde verticale as Francis-turbine van het merk Schneider-Jaquet & Cie. en heeft een vermogen van ca. 9 pk. De hoofdaandrijving tussen turbine en maalstenen wordt gevormd door gietijzeren tandwielen met houten vertanding. De verticale turbine-as drijft met een conische tandwieloverbrenging de horizontale molenas met het daarop bevestigde aswiel aan, dat wederom een klein conisch tandwiel op de koningsspil aandrijft. Bij de turbine hoort een eikenhouten maalstoel van de Fa. Limpens, 1867, met vier koppels kwartsietstenen, die in 1907 ingrijpend werd gewijzigd.
Waardering
De turbine met maalinrichting van de Stadbroekermolen is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een economische, technische en typologische industriële ontwikkeling op molengebied in het begin van de twintigste eeuw. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door het technische ontwerp van turbine en maalinstallatie. Het geheel verkeert in gave staat en vormt een essentieel onderdeel van de reeds van rijkswege beschermde opstallen van de Stadbroekermolen. Het feit dat deze industriële turbine met maalinrichting compleet aanwezig is verleent het geheel een voor Nederlandse begrippen zeer hoge zeldzaamheidswaarde.
De turbine met maalinrichting van de Stadbroekermolen vertegenwoordigt een algemeen belang vanwege het geheel van voornoemde waarden.

TURBINE WITH MILLING INSTALLATION by Schneider, Jaquet & Cie of Koeningshoffen near Strasbourg, 1907. The turbine was installed in 1907 in the water mill of Stadbroek at Sittard, which originally dates from the sixteenth century, in combination with the oak millstone that had been rebuilt for this purpose by Limpens in 1867. The Stadbroekermolen is already protected at national level under number 33713 and comprises a mill building dating originally from the late sixteenth century, extended in 1861; a seventeenth-century miller's house, heightened with an additional storey in 1871; an agricultural barn from 1847; a cow shed from 1849; a boiler house with chimney from 1864; grain storage spaces and a dwelling house from 1875. The entire Stadbroekermolen, including the turbine and milling installation, was restored in 1995 on behalf of the municipality of Sittard respectively by the architects' office Mertens, Voorvelt & Hamers of Hoensbroek and B.A.T./Roebroek, cooperating industrial restorers of Sittard. Description
The turbine of the Stadbroekermolen is a so-called vertical shaft Francis turbine of the brand Schneider-Jaquet & Cie and has a power of approximately 9 hp. The main drive between turbine and millstones is formed by cast-iron gear wheels with wooden toothing. The vertical turbine shaft drives, with a conical gear transmission, the horizontal mill shaft with the wheel axle attached to it, which in turn drives a small conical gear on the main spindle.
