The register's description

Inleiding.

Introduction.

The RESIDENTIAL HOUSE of the Amaliahoeve was erected in 1938 and displays traditionalist forms and functionalist elements.

Description.

Three-storey villa-like residential house constructed from brown-red and yellow machine-made brick in half-brick and chain bond under a tent roof provided with a wide overhanging drip moulding, covered with characteristic green improved Dutch tiles. The house on a square ground plan is built into the dike slope and has two storeys on the front and side facades, three storeys on the rear side. The facades have on the ground floor three-part iron windows and on the upper storey two-part sash windows, here and there coupled two by two and placed in a band of yellow brick. The windows have lintels and a glazed sill of moulded stone. Wrought-iron ornamental wall anchors. The front facade has three bays and has in the central bay a natural stone portal in Empire forms, with a panelled door with semicircular fanlight between volute-supporting cornices. The left side facade has two sections, the right facade has a single-storey entrance portal with two semicircular terminated natural stone door surrounds. The portal has a wooden cornice, above which the brick balustrade of a balcony. In front of this facade a terrace with retaining wall on the inner side of the dike. On the rear side and on the corner of the front facade diagonal buttresses. On the rear side two semicircular arched openings with on the left a three-part window and door unit and on the right a double clamped carriage entrance. The tent roof has a roof dormer on the front side and a crowning chimney. Internally in the basement a motor generator unit. In the rooms provided with parquet floors and simple stucco ceilings on the ground floor among other things a late Gothic fireplace from elsewhere with on the breast a coat of arms stone and a possibly eighteenth-century chimney-piece.

Valuation.

The residential house of the farmhouse is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical importance as an example of the socio-economic development of agriculture in the Brabantine Biesbosch, in particular the reclamation of natural areas for agricultural purposes and as an example of the typological development of the manor farmhouse. From an architectural-historical perspective the property is of importance because of its ornamentation, the special coherence between exterior and interior, and also because of the use of building fragments from elsewhere to increase representativeness. The farmhouse is important because of the integrity of its interior and exterior and is as such rare.
