Omschrijving onderdeel 3 (bij Oud Over 8): TOEGANGDAM met HEK en SCHAMPPALEN behorende tot de buitenplaats Bijdorp.
Het voorplein is bereikbaar via een dam met doorloop in naar de oevers uitzwenkende rood bakstenen keermuren. De keermuren zijn aan de bovenzijde voorzien van een opstaande rand van baksteen met ingelegde hardstenen afdekplaten op de plaatsen waar schamppalen en hek bevestigd zijn. Het brugdek is voorzien van een klinkerbestrating. Op de dam een eenvoudig en vrij laag dubbel spijlenhek met door voluten beëindigde vleugelstukken. Tussen de draaibare delen en de vleugelstukken tussenstukken waarin in gouden letters de naam van de buitenplaats is aangebracht; links BY, rechts DORP. Goudkleurige spijlpunten. Op de keermuren schamppalen op een vierkant basement; zowel aan de straatzijde als aan de voorpleinzijde drie stuks ter weerszijden van het hek; de palen worden onderling en met het hek verbonden door een ketting, samengesteld uit ruit-en cirkelvormige schakels. Onder de halve bol-vormige beëindiging van de palen is een geprofileerde band aangebracht met een ornamenteel patroon van ruiten en cirkels. Toegangsdam, hek en schamppalen vermoedelijk uit het midden van de 19de eeuw.

Description component 3 (at Oud Over 8): ACCESS DAM with GATE and BOLLARDS belonging to the country estate Bijdorp.
The forecourt is accessible via a dam with passage into keeper walls of red brick angling towards the banks. The keeper walls are provided on the top side with a raised edge of brick with inlaid hardstone coping plates at the places where bollards and gate are fastened. The bridge deck is provided with a brick paving. On the dam a simple and fairly low double bar gate with wing sections terminating in volutes. Between the rotating parts and the wing sections intermediate sections in which the name of the country estate is applied in golden letters; left BY, right DORP. Gold-coloured bar points. On the keeper walls bollards on a square basement; both on the street side and on the forecourt side three each on either side of the gate; the posts are connected mutually and with the gate by a chain, composed of diamond and circular links. Under the semi-spherical termination of the posts a profiled band has been applied with an ornamental pattern of diamonds and circles. Access dam, gate and bollards presumably from the mid-19th century.
