Inleiding
De WINKELWONING is gelegen op de hoek Vlasmeersestraat-Hoogstraat. Het pand, waarin oorspronkelijk een kruidenierswinkel en de woning van de winkelier waren ondergebracht, werd in 1938 opgetrokken in een Traditionalistische bouwstijl, naar ontwerp van architect C. Knuttel. De winkelwoning werd gebouwd in opdracht van het echtpaar W. en Ch. E. van Beuningen, dat door de bouw van goede woningen de leefomstandigheden van de Vughtse bevolking wilde verbeteren. Het inwendige van de winkelwoning is sindsdien enigszins gewijzigd: op de begane grond is de woonkamer van het woonhuis later bij de winkel getrokken.
Omschrijving
De winkelwoning heeft een eenvoudige vlinderplattegrond, bestaand uit twee in een flauwe hoek schuin tegen elkaar geplaatste rechthoekige bouwdelen. Aan de zuidelijke zijde van de winkelwoning, langs de Vlasmeersestraat, een éénlaags aanbouw onder plat dak. Door middel van een laag muurtje sluit deze aanbouw aan op een garage aan de Vlasmeersestraat. Het pand telt één bouwlaag onder een overstekend zadeldak, gedekt met groene geglazuurde pannen. Het huis heeft een bakgoot op klossen en een drietal schoorstenen. Boven de achtergevel een plat afgedekte dakkapel. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in gewitte baksteen, met een zwart geschilderde plint. De voorgevel van de winkelwoning bevindt zich op de hoek Vlasmeersestraat - Hoogstraat en wordt gevormd door een winkelpui met twee etalagekasten. Hiertussen ligt de winkelingang. Boven de etalagekasten en de winkeldeur is een doorlopend bovenlicht, bestaand uit kleine éénruits raampjes met kathedraalglas, aangebracht.
In de kopgevel aan de Vlasmeersestraat op de begane grond, ter hoogte van de voormalige woonkamer een kruisvenster met onder vierruits en boven tweeruits ramen. Houten onderluiken. Ter hoogte van de zolderverdieping, waar de slaapkamers van de winkelwoning waren ondergebracht, twee stolpvensters met vierruits ramen. De kopgevel aan de Hoogstraat toont een identieke vensterindeling.
In de achtergevel van de winkelwoning een drietal rechtgesloten vensters met vierruits raam met daarboven een tweeruits klapraam. De achteringang van de winkelwoning ligt in de eenlaags aanbouw. Deze sluit via een lage muur aan op de eenlaags garage aan de zuidzijde van de winkelwoning. Deze garage heeft een zadeldak, gedekt met groene geglazuurde pannen. Ingang in de vorm van een dubbele opgeklampte rondboogdeur aan de Vlasmeersestraat. Hierboven een klein rond venster.
Waardering
De winkelwoning behorend bij het woningbouwcomplex in de "Piekenhoek" is van algemeen belang. De winkelwoning bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling: het is een goed voorbeeld van door particuliere weldoeners gerealiseerde volkswoningbouw. Het winkelwoning heeft architectuurhistorische waarde als onderdeel van een volkswoningbouwcomplex in een karakteristiek gedetailleerde, traditionalistische vormentaal en door het bijzondere materiaalgebruik. De winkelwoning bezit ensemblewaarde als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel, dat cultuurhistorisch, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig van nationaal belang is. The SHOP-DWELLING is located at the corner of Vlasmeersestraat-Hoogstraat. The building, in which originally a grocery shop and the dwelling of the shopkeeper were housed, was erected in 1938 in a Traditionalist building style, designed by architect C. Knuttel. The shop-dwelling was built on commission of the married couple W. and Ch. E. van Beuningen, who wished to improve the living conditions of the Vught population through the construction of good dwellings. The interior of the shop-dwelling has since been somewhat altered: on the ground floor the living room of the dwelling house was later connected to the shop.

The shop-dwelling has a simple butterfly floor plan, consisting of two rectangular building units placed at a gentle angle diagonally against each other. On the southern side of the shop-dwelling, along the Vlasmeersestraat, a single-storey extension under flat roof. By means of a low wall this extension connects to a garage on the Vlasmeersestraat. The building counts one storey under an overhanging gabled roof, covered with green glazed tiles. The house has a brickwork gutter on corbels and three chimneys. Above the rear facade a flat-topped roof dormer. The facades are constructed in whitewashed brickwork, with a black-painted plinth. The front facade of the shop-dwelling is located at the corner of Vlasmeersestraat - Hoogstraat and is formed by a shop front with two display cases. Between them lies the shop entrance. Above the display cases and the shop door is a continuous fanlight, consisting of small single-pane windows with cathedral glass, installed.
In the gable end at the Vlasmeersestraat on the ground floor, at the level of the former living room a cross window with four-pane panes below and two-pane panes above. Wooden lower shutters. At the level of the attic storey, where the bedrooms of the shop-dwelling were housed, two dormer windows with four-pane windows. The gable end at the Hoogstraat shows an identical window arrangement.
In the rear facade of the shop-dwelling three right-angled closed windows with four-pane pane with above it a two-pane fanlight. The rear entrance of the shop-dwelling is located in the single-storey extension. This connects via a low wall to the single-storey garage on the southern side of the shop-dwelling.
