Inleiding
OPHAALBRUG, genaamd `Schaive Klabbe', gebouwd in 1940. Deze brug kwam in de plaats van een oude draaibrug, die ten tijde van de oorlog was vernield. Bijzonder aan deze brug is dat hij niet is opgebouwd uit een hameipoort (twee hameistijlen verbonden door een hameiregel) maar uit één vrijstaande hameistijl (Amsterdamse type). Dit type werd toegepast bij scheve overbruggingen waarbij de brug het vaarwater onder een scheve hoek kruist. Dit type werd voor 1940 slechts bij hoge uitzondering toegepast; deze brug is dan ook zeldzaam in de provincie Groningen. Zowel het bedieningsmechanisme als bedieningshuisje zijn inmiddels verdwenen waardoor de nu vaste brug haar functie voor de scheepvaart heeft verloren.
De brug ligt dwars over een knik die het Muntendammerdiep naar oostelijke richting maakt en vormt een bijzondere entree naar het dorp Muntendam.
Omschrijving
OPHAALBRUG schuin over het diep gelegen geconstrueerd van gelaste ijzeren profielen en beton. De vrijstaande hameistijl staat aan de oostzijde van de brug en is opgebouwd uit twee staande betonelementen waartussen de balansarm; één balansarm van gelaste ijzeren profielen. Het val bestaat uit gelaste ijzeren profielen die met kabels verbonden wordt met het brugdek en tezamen een parallellogram vormen. Het brugdek is geasfalteerd met aan weerszijden een verhoging als trottoir en rust op ijzeren I-profielen. De leuningen zijn opgebouwd uit ijzeren buisprofielen. De brug rust op betonnen landhoofden.

Introduction
BAR-LOCK DRAWBRIDGE, named 'Schaive Klabbe', built in 1940. This bridge replaced an old swing bridge that was destroyed during the war. Particular about this bridge is that it is not constructed from a hameipoort (two hamel stiles connected by a hamel rail) but from one free-standing hamel stile (Amsterdam type). This type was applied in skew overbridgings where the bridge crosses the waterway at a skew angle. This type was applied only in rare exceptional cases before 1940; this bridge is therefore rare in the province of Groningen. Both the operating mechanism and operating house have since disappeared, whereby the now fixed bridge has lost its function for shipping.

Description
BAR-LOCK DRAWBRIDGE constructed diagonally across the waterway of welded iron profiles and concrete. The free-standing hamel stile stands on the east side of the bridge and is constructed from two standing concrete elements between which the balance arm; one balance arm of welded iron profiles. The counterweight consists of welded iron profiles which are connected with cables to the bridge deck and together form a parallelogram. The bridge deck is asphalted with an elevation as pavement on either side and rests on iron I-profiles. The railings are constructed from iron tube profiles. The bridge rests on concrete abutments.
