Inleiding
Van oorsprong HERENHUIS met aangebouwd achterhuis uit 1809, dat waarschijnlijk in het laatste kwart van de negentiende eeuw zijn huidige aanzien kreeg. Het pand is diverse malen verbouwd en heeft verschillende functies gehad. Tegenwoordig is het als woonhuis in gebruik en is door de huidige eigenaar gerestaureerd met "oude" onderdelen in een aangepaste Eclectische stijl. Met name de serre en het aangebouwde achterhuis zijn naar eigen inzicht op een zorgvuldige en verantwoorde wijze in "oude staat" teruggebracht. Bij de woning hoort een diepe achtertuin waarin een sober gemetseld schuurtje staat dat buiten de bescherming van rijkswege valt vanwege jongere aanpassingen.
Het herenhuis is met name van belang vanwege zijn beeldbepalende ligging aan de als beschermd gezicht voorgedragen Hoofdweg door Bellingwolde. Het pand vormt samen met de monumentale panden Hoofdweg 252 en Hoofdweg 237 een fraai ensemble.
Omschrijving
HERENHUIS opgetrokken in een rood-bruine baksteen op een gepleisterd trasraam met gebouchardeerde vlakken, afgedekt met een gepleisterde rand. Het afgekotte schilddak, gedekt met een zwarte geglazuurde Friese golfpan, heeft vier (vernieuwde) gemetselde schoorstenen met kap, en een kroonlijst met triglyfen. Op de gevelhoeken aan de voorzijde gemetselde pilasters.
De voorgevel (west) wordt benadrukt door een iets risalerende doorgetrokken middenpartij onder een steekkap met zadeldak met kroonlijst en drie vazen. In de middenpartij de hoofdentree bestaande uit dubbele paneeldeuren met getoogd bovenlicht met vergulde leeuw in een portiek. De portiek heeft gepleisterde vlakken en twee gepleisterde pilasters met bladkapiteel. Voor de entree een natuurstenen stoep (drie treden) tussen zijwanden. Boven de entree een balkon met ijzeren hek met decoratieve stijlen tussen houten pijlers, steunend op twee decoratieve consoles. Het balkon is bereikbaar via twee deuren met deurlicht en halfrond bovenlicht, binnen een licht getoogde gepleisterde portiek met omlijsting met kuif.
Zowel links als rechts van de middenpartij twee getoogde T-vensters en twee getoogde zaadvensters, alle binnen een gepleisterde omlijsting met kuif.

Originally a MANSION with an attached rear building from 1809, which probably acquired its present appearance in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. The property has been rebuilt several times and has had various functions. MANSION built in red-brown brick on a rendered ashlar frame with bush-hammered surfaces, topped with a rendered edge. The truncated hipped roof, covered with black glazed Frisian curved tiles, has four (renewed) brick chimneys with caps, and a cornice with triglyphs. On the facade corners at the front brick pilasters.
The front facade (west) is emphasized by a slightly projecting continuous central section under a gable roof with saddle roof with cornice and three urns. In the central section the main entrance consisting of double panel doors with arched fanlight with gilded lion in a portico. The portico has rendered surfaces and two rendered pilasters with foliate capitals. In front of the entrance a natural stone step (three treads) between side walls. Above the entrance a balcony with iron railing with decorative uprights between wooden posts, resting on two decorative consoles. The balcony is accessible via two doors with door light and semicircular fanlight, within a slightly arched rendered portico with surround with cyma.
