Inleiding
Het voormalige KOETSHUIS Groeneweg 33 is een toevoeging in Neo-Hollandse Renaissance uit 1899 aan het voormalige Cellebroedersklooster uit de zestiende eeuw. Nadat de Geuzen bezit genomen hadden van Gouda in 1572 werd het gebouw bestemd als Latijnse school. In 1849 werd de Latijnse school omgevormd tot gymnasium en verliet de school het pand. Daarna werd het pand in gebruik genomen als Werkinrichting tot Wering der Bedelarij. Na de oorlog kwam hier het bejaardentehuis Huize Groeneweg. Groeneweg 33 fungeerde als koetshuis.
Omschrijving
Het aan drie zijden vrijstaande pand is vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond in baksteen opgetrokken. Het pand bestaat uit twee bouwlagen, bekroond met een trapgevel aan de voorzijde en een tuitgevel aan de achterzijde. Het zadeldak is gedekt met zwarte kruispannen. De symmetrische voorgevel wordt geleed door zandstenen speklagen. er zijn smeedijzeren sierankers. Het lichtuitstekende trasraam wordt afgesloten met een hardstenen lijst. de voorgevel heeft op de begane grond twee dubbele deuren met ruiten en met bovenlichten in de vorm van een korfboog. Tussen de deuren een hardstenen gevelsteen met het jaartal 1899. Op de verdieping twee dubbele schuiframen met zesruits bovenlicht. In de top bevindt zich een zes-ruits schuifvenster, met een korfboog en gemetseld boogveld erboven. The former COACH HOUSE Groeneweg 33 is an addition in Neo-Dutch Renaissance from 1899 to the former Cellite monastery from the sixteenth century. After the Gueux took possession of Gouda in 1572 the building was designated as a Latin school. In 1849 the Latin school was converted into a gymnasium and the school left the premises. Subsequently the building was taken into use as a House of Industry for the Prevention of Begging. After the war the nursing home Huize Groeneweg was established here. Groeneweg 33 served as a coach house.
Description
The building, free-standing on three sides, is constructed in brick from a rectangular ground plan. The building consists of two storeys, crowned with a stepped gable on the front and a spout gavel on the rear. The saddle roof is covered with black cross tiles. The symmetrical front façade is articulated by sandstone banding. There are wrought iron wall anchors. The slightly projecting Trasraam is terminated with a hardstone moulding. The front façade has on the ground floor two double doors with panes and with fanlights in the form of a basket arch. Between the doors a hardstone façade stone with the date 1899. On the storey two double sash windows with six-pane fanlight. At the top is a six-pane sash window, with a basket arch and masoned arch field above. In the basket arches above the windows and doors sandstone blocks have been placed (including springers and keystones). The top gable and the capping plates are of natural stone. The blind wall of the left side façade has a wooden gutter moulding. In the rear façade is a door with panes and a six-pane sash window. The spout and the capping mouldings are of natural stone.

The COACH HOUSE is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural value. The building has cultural-historical value as part of the former Cellite monastery and the socio-cultural history of this complex.
