Inleiding
PARKAANLEG bij het hoofdgebouw van het landgoed Duin en Kruidberg, deel uitmakend van het gelijknamige complex. De parkaanleg is ontworpen door L.A. Springer en uitgevoerd tussen 1908 en 1912. Springer reorganiseerde de bestaande 19de-eeuwse parkaanleg in een mengstijl van geometrisch en landschappelijk. Aan de zuidzijde van het hoofdgebouw maakte hij een hoge, geometrisch ingedeelde parterre met uitzicht over het park. Deze parterre is in XXd gereconstrueerd. De huidige vijver van Springer is, zo blijkt uit de militaire kaart van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden uit 1849-1859, een aanpassing van een al bestaande vijver van de voormalige buitenplaats Duin en Berg. De bomenallee is een restant van de J.T. Cremerlaan, de tegenover Kennemergaarde gelegen oorspronkelijke toegangsweg tot Duin en Kruidberg.
Omschrijving
Eén van belangrijkste onderdelen die nog resteren van de door Springer ontworpen aanleg is de serpentinevormige vijverpartij die een open blik op het hoofdgebouw creëert en daardoor het belang van het hoofdgebouw benadrukt. De vijver is op haar breedst bij het hoofdgebouw en kronkelt zich in zuidelijke richting om een aangelegde landtong heen. Het tweede onderdeel is de door bomen omzoomde open ruimte, op het zuidoosten, die ongeveer de omtrek volgt van de ruimte waarin Springer, volgens zijn ontwerptekening uit 1912, een nooit uitgevoerd of verdwenen croquetveld en rosarium had geprojecteerd. Van belang voor de appreciatie van Springers intentie met deze ruimte is de zichtlijn die vanaf het hoofdgebouw in zuidoostelijke richting diagonaal over dit open veld gaat. PARK LAYOUT at the main building of the Duin en Kruidberg country estate, forming part of the complex of the same name. The park layout was designed by L.A. Springer and executed between 1908 and 1912. Springer reorganised the existing 19th-century park layout in a mixed style of geometric and landscape design.
