Inleiding
Uit 1898 daterend GRAFMONUMENT van Louise Hardenberg (1844-1898), directrice van de Kweekschool voor Bewaarschoolonderwijzeressen. Het monument werd in opdracht van haar leerlingen en vrienden vervaardigd door Bart van Hove (1850-1914), beeldhouwer en vanaf 1902 professor aan de Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten te Amsterdam.
Omschrijving
Circa 2,80 m hoog hardstenen grafmonument bestaande uit een vierkante vloerplaat (1,5 x 1,5 m) waarop een sokkel met obelisk. Vóór de obelisk zit op de sokkel een kleine treurende engel van wit marmer die een eveneens in wit marmer uitgevoerd ovaal reliëf naast zich vasthoudt voorstellend een door rozen omkranst portret van de overledene. Boven de engel is in de voorzijde van de obelisk de naam en de geboorte- en sterfdatum van de overledene gehouwen: "Louise/ HARDENBERG/ Geb 9 Maart 1844/ Overl 15 Juli 1898". De voorzijde van de sokkel draagt in aanvulling hierop de volgende tekst: "DIRECTRICE/ DER KWEEKSCHOOL/ VOOR/ BEWAARSCHOOLONDERWIJZERESSEN/ VAN HARE/ LEERLINGEN EN VRIENDEN".
Waardering
Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische waarde als karakteristiek en gaaf bewaard laat 19de-eeuws grafmonument op de begraafplaats Westerveld; wegens de funerair-historische en genealogische waarde.

GRAVE MONUMENT dating from 1898 of Louise Hardenberg (1844-1898), directress of the Teacher Training School for Infant School Teachers. The monument was made at the commission of her pupils and friends by Bart van Hove (1850-1914), sculptor and from 1902 professor at the Royal Academy for Visual Arts in Amsterdam.
Description
Grave monument of sandstone, approximately 2.80 m high, consisting of a square floor plate (1.5 x 1.5 m) on which stands a plinth with an obelisk. In front of the obelisk sits on the plinth a small mourning angel of white marble holding beside it an oval relief also executed in white marble depicting a portrait of the deceased surrounded by roses. Above the angel is carved on the front of the obelisk the name and the birth and death date of the deceased: "Louise/ HARDENBERG/ Born 9 March 1844/ Died 15 July 1898". The front of the plinth bears in addition the following text: "DIRECTRESS/ OF THE TEACHER TRAINING SCHOOL/ FOR/ INFANT SCHOOL TEACHERS/ FROM HER/ PUPILS AND FRIENDS".
Valuation
The grave monument is of general importance for its cultural-historical value as a characteristic and well-preserved late 19th-century grave monument on the Westerveld cemetery; for its funeral-historical and genealogical value.
