Inleiding
GEDENKPAAL uit 1863, als onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats 'Het Plantagehuis'. De buitenplaats heeft zijn oorsprong als heerlijkheid 'Vreeland', die terug gaat tot in de 18de eeuw. In 1908 werd door de Amsterdamse koopman G.H. Hooft van Vreeland opdracht gegeven tot de bouw van het hoofdhuis in moorse stijl temidden van een landschappelijk aangelegd park.
Omschrijving
De gedenkplaal aan het einde van de Breedelaan, ter hoogte van de Bergweg, bestaat uit een vierkante zuil, bekleed met lichtgele zandstenen platen met een inscriptie, op een voetstuk en met een afdekplaat in donkere zandsteen. Het randschrift van de afdekplaat bevat de volgende inscripties: 'TROUW', 'HULP', 'HULDE' en 'EENSGEZINDHEID'.
Onder 'TROUW' staat op de zandstenen plaat de inscriptie: 'Jubileum. Lof, aanbidding, dank en ere worden immer toegebracht aan den Schepper, God en Heere die schiep licht uit duistre nacht. 1863'.
Onder 'HULDE' staat de inscriptie: 'S. Rendorp. W. van Voorthuysen. H. Ruys. E. van Beusekom. 1813'.
Onder 'HULP': 'In kommervolle tijden Willen zij nog vreugd verspreiden'.
Onder 'EENSGEZINDHEID': 'Weldoen uit menschen min Was aller ziel en zin'.

MEMORIAL from 1863, as part of the historic country estate 'Het Plantagehuis'. The estate has its origins as the lordship 'Vreeland', which dates back to the 18th century. In 1908, Amsterdam merchant G.H. Hooft van Vreeland commissioned the construction of the main house in Moorish style in the midst of a landscaped park.
Description
The memorial plaque at the end of the Breedelaan, at the level of the Bergweg, consists of a square column, clad with light yellow sandstone panels with an inscription, on a pedestal and with a coping plate in dark sandstone. The marginal inscription on the coping plate contains the following inscriptions: 'LOYALTY', 'AID', 'HOMAGE' and 'UNANIMITY'.
