Inleiding
TOEGANGSHEK, als onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats 'Het Plantagehuis'. De buitenplaats heeft zijn oorsprong als heerlijkheid 'Vreeland', die terug gaat tot in de 18de eeuw. In 1908 werd door de Amsterdamse koopman G.H. Hooft van Vreeland opdracht gegeven tot de bouw van het hoofdhuis in moorse stijl temidden van een landschappelijk aangelegd park.
Omschrijving
Het TOEGANGSHEK uit omstreeks 1900 markeert ter hoogte van de Bergweg de ingang tot het lange smalle tuingedeelte aan de oostzijde van de oude Vechtarm. Het bestaat uit twee smeedijzeren hekstijlen, waartussen een tweevleugelig spijlendraaihek is geplaatst. In het onderste deel van het spijlenhek zijn halfhoge tussenspijlen geplaatst. Hoge en lage spijlen worden bekroond door een vlamvormig verguld ornament. Het hek wordt beëindigd door een regel waarvan de uiteinden naar boven buigen en aansluiting bij de bekroning van de hekstijlen vinden.
De hekstijlen zijn achtzijdig op een vierkante voet en met een vierkante beëindiging, die overgaat in een afdekplaat waarop een verguld bolvormig ornament.

ENTRANCE GATE, as part of the historical country estate 'Het Plantagehuis'. The country estate has its origins as the lordship 'Vreeland', which dates back to the 18th century. Description
The ENTRANCE GATE from around 1900 marks at the level of the Bergweg the entrance to the long narrow garden section on the east side of the old Vecht branch. It consists of two wrought-iron gate posts, between which a two-winged spindled swing gate is placed. In the lower part of the spindled gate, half-high intermediate spindels are placed. High and low spindels are crowned by a flame-shaped gilded ornament. The gate is terminated by a rule whose ends curve upward and meet at the crown of the gate posts.
The gate posts are octagonal on a square base and with a square termination, which transitions into a coping plate on which a gilded spherical ornament is mounted.
