HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende tot de buitenplaats Oosterhout.
De aanleg rondom het huis Oosterhout is vanaf de bouw van het huis in circa 1850 tot stand gekomen en is thans nog gaaf aanwezig. De rechte toegangsweg met originele bestrating loopt vanaf de Groenestraat. Op een Topografische Militaire Kaart (TMK) uit 1887 wordt het huis omringd door (wandel)bos, boomgaarden en weilanden. Tussen 1887 en 1903 is het goed verder verfraaid met een sterrenbos en een brede (zicht)laan, die vanaf de dijk loodrecht op de as van de achtergevel van het huis is geprojecteerd. Deze laan maakt enkele honderden meters voor het huis een haakse hoek en voert langs de zijgevel naar de hoofdingang aan de noordzijde. Vanaf de achterzijde van het huis loopt een fraai zicht over de verdiept liggende, iets glooiende open ruimte dat door bossen wordt omzoomd met de zichtlaan als enige uitsparing. Op het grasveld staat een rode beuk, enkele magnolia's en taxus. Rechts van de laan ligt het sterrenbos, als laat 19de-eeuws neoformeel element. Het stervormige lanenpatroon (in aanleg acht lanen) komt samen bij een heuveltje. Aan de oostzijde grenst het sterrenbos aan weilanden, alwaar aansluitend op de oost-west as een oude kweldijk met laanbeplanting loopt, deze komt voor op oude kaarten en is mogelijk een laatste restant van de verbindingslaan tussen het voormalige huis Oosterhout en Waaijestein. Direct terzijde van het huis was, tussen twee tuinmuren, de moestuin annex boomgaard gesitueerd waarvan thans een deel bewaard is gebleven. Het andere deel, tussen de tuinmuur en een beukenhaag, heeft in de jaren dertig van de twintigste eeuw een aanleg gekregen bestaande uit vakken van buxus, ontworpen door de tuinarchitect Mien Ruys. In deze periode is ook de gravel tennisbaan gerealiseerd. Aan de oostkant van het huis ligt een pinetum en een jachtbosje, aan de westkant een wandelbos met eiken en beuken.
Waardering
De HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende tot de buitenplaats is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- vanwege de historische tuin- en parkaanleg, die in de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw tot stand gekomen is en uit verschillende elementen bestaat: kleinschalige aanleg in landschapsstijl, wandelbos, sterrenbos, pinetum, moestuin;
- vanwege de kleinschalige tuinaanleg uit circa 1935 naar ontwerp van tuinarchitecte Mien Ruys;

HISTORICAL GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT belonging to the country estate Oosterhout.
The layout surrounding the house Oosterhout was created from the construction of the house in circa 1850 and is still intact today. The straight access road with original paving runs from the Groenestraat. On a Topographic Military Map (TMK) from 1887 the house is surrounded by (walking) woodland, orchards and meadows. Between 1887 and 1903 the property was further embellished with a star wood and a broad (view) avenue, which from the dike is projected perpendicular to the axis of the rear facade of the house. This avenue makes a right angle a few hundred metres before the house and leads along the side facade to the main entrance on the north side. From the rear of the house there is a fine view over the sunken, gently sloping open space surrounded by woodland with the view avenue as the only opening. On the lawn stands a red beech, several magnolias and yew. To the right of the avenue lies the star wood, as a late 19th-century neo-formal element. The star-shaped lane pattern (eight lanes in the layout) converges at a small hill. On the east side the star wood is bordered by meadows, where adjoining the east-west axis an old saltmarsh dike with avenue planting runs; this appears on old maps and is possibly a last remnant of the connecting avenue between the former house Oosterhout and Waaijestein. Directly beside the house was, between two garden walls, the vegetable garden and orchard situated, of which part is now preserved. The other part, between the garden wall and a beech hedge, was given a layout in the 1930s consisting of compartments of boxwood, designed by garden architect Mien Ruys. In this period the gravel tennis court was also realised. On the east side of the house lies a pinetum and a hunting wood, on the west side a walking wood with oaks and beeches.
