Inleiding
WOONHUIS (type herenhuis) behorend bij voormalig boerderij-complex met schuur, tot stand gekomen tussen 1860-1880. De in de achtergevel voorkomende dakkapel is modern en van ondergeschikt belang evenals het later aangebrachte tussenlid waarmee de schuur aan het woonhuis is verbonden.
Omschrijving
Het met de nokrichting evenwijdig aan de Zandweg gelegen woonhuis is opgetrokken in baksteen op een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt één bouwlaag onder met gesmoorde kruispannen gedekte mansardekap. De gevels zijn met uitzondering van de voorgevel geheel bepleisterd. De voorgevel wordt door bepleisterde blokpilasters op de hoeken en in het risalerende middendeel door bepleisterde banden (met schijnvoegen) verticaal geleed. Boven de vensters komen strekken voor.
De voorgevel of zuidgevel is een lijstgevel in het midden doorbroken door een risaliet met hoger opgetrokken topgevel onder een steekkap. Het risaliet is voorzien van lisenen met imitatie-voegen en bevat de hoofdentree, bestaande uit een deur met bovenlicht. Erboven is onder een kroonlijst de naam `Helena's oord' gezet. De topgevel bevat een kepervenster met roedenverdeling. De entreepartij en de verdiepingsvensters hebben beide een geprofileerde omlijsting. Ter weerszijden van het risaliet heeft de gevel twee schuifvensters met boven elk venster een verdiept veld. De gevelhoeken zijn uitgevoerd met twee vlakke pilasters met imitatievoegen. Boven de geprofileerde gootlijst is een hoekelement aangebracht met trigliefen.
De zijgevels hebben een fraaie samengestelde klokgevelbeëindiging waarin schouderstukken met afdekkingen in natuursteen. Deze wordt in het midden bekroond door een schoorsteen met verdiepte vlakken.
De linkerzijgevel bevat een tweetal vensters in de eerste bouwlaag en een venster in de top.
De rechter zijgevel heeft een vergelijkbare opbouw als de voorgevel en bevat in de tweede bouwlaag twee draairamen met houten zonweringen met tandvormige beëindigingen. De achtergevel heeft in het midden een risaliet met een deur met bovenlicht. Links bevat de gevel een niet oorspronkelijk venster. Rechts is een klein venster gezet en is tegen deze gevel en die van de schuur een tussenlid geplaatst, dat buiten de bescherming valt. Onder de geprofileerde goot zijn evenals in de voorgevel in het muurvlak verdiepte velden aangebracht.

The residence situated with the ridge direction parallel to the Zandweg is built in brick on a rectangular ground plan and has one storey under a mansard roof covered with Dutch tiles. The facades, with the exception of the front facade, are entirely plastered. The front facade is articulated vertically by plastered block pilasters on the corners and in the projecting central section by plastered bands (with false joints). Above the windows are stretcher courses.
The front or south facade is a cornice-topped facade in the middle interrupted by a risallit with a higher-raised stepped gable under a gable roof. The risallit is provided with lisenes with imitation joints and contains the main entrance, consisting of a door with fanlight. Above it under a cornice the name 'Helena's oord' is set. The stepped gable contains a herringbone window with glazing bars. The entrance arrangement and the first-floor windows both have a profiled surround. On either side of the risallit the facade has two sash windows with above each window a recessed panel. The gable corners are executed with two flat pilasters with imitation joints. Above the profiled gutter line a corner element with triglyphs is applied.
The side facades have a fine compound bell gable termination in which shoulder pieces with ashlar cappings. This is crowned in the middle by a chimney with recessed planes.
The left side facade contains two windows on the first storey and a window in the gable.
The right side facade has a similar construction as the front facade and contains in the second storey two casement windows with wooden sunblinds with tooth-shaped terminations. The rear facade has in the middle a risallit with a door with fanlight. On the left the facade contains a non-original window. On the right a small window is placed and against this facade and that of the barn a connecting section is positioned, which falls outside the protection. Below the profiled gutter are, as in the front facade, recessed panels in the wall plane.
Valuation
Of general importance on account of the architectural-historical value as a relatively intact example of a residence attached to a farm elaborately executed on urban models, in eclectic style. Also of ensemble and situational value in relation to the associated barn and the character-defining location on the Leidsche Rijn.
