Inleiding

Description
Introduction
RECTORY, attached to the ecclesiastical complex St. Willibrordus to designs by architect Nicolaas Molenaar. The church was consecrated in 1885 and enlarged in 1935. The rectory is connected to the church by means of a connecting link.
Description
The RECTORY was erected in 1884, simultaneously with the construction of the church built on the west side, with both neo-Renaissance and neo-Gothic elements, on a mainly rectangular ground plan and comprises two storeys beneath gabled roofs set at right angles to each other covered in slate with slate slates between gable ends with shoulderpieces. The building volume in the angle on the east side is largely covered with a flat roof.
The walls, executed in red brick, are decorated with ornamental wall anchors and articulated by yellow brick bands and cornice mouldings. Below the cornice the masonry is corbelled out.
The front or south facade is symmetrical in layout and contains in both storeys five sash windows with vertically divided glass-in-lead fanlights and shutters. On the left in the left side facade in a slightly recessed pointed-arch portico with stepped apex is placed the worked front door. The right side facade has on the left a pavilion with gable end and on the right a facade section with in both storeys three sash windows. The pavilion contains in both storeys a window with shutters and two windows in the gable end, flanked by two blank panels. The gable end is further characterised by three pointed-arch blank panels.
The rear facade has on the left a projecting gable end with in the first storey two windows, in the second storey one window and in the apex two windows. To the right of this is a building component beneath a flat roof containing the rear door and above it two pairs of windows placed one above the other. The wall section to the right of the rear door contains two sash windows placed one above the other beneath a segmental-arch vault. Against this facade section are set a number of cubic building components of subordinate importance.
The left side facade is characterised by a gable end with a number of windows and decorative brickwork in yellow stone.
The interior has largely preserved the original layout. The reception room is executed with a worked sandstone mantelpiece bearing in gilded letters the text: 'oost west thuis best'. The room further has a beam ceiling with worked keystones.
The rear room on the east side has glass-in-lead windows with coats of arms including that of the province of Utrecht. The house further contains a cellar and a stairwell.
Appraisal
The rectory is of general importance by reason of its architectural-historical value as an intact example of a rectory influenced by neo-Renaissance and neo-Gothic styles, designed at the same time as the church by Nicolaas Molenaar, as well as by reason of its intact preserved components in exterior and interior. Also of cultural-historical value by reason of its function, as well as of ensemble value by reason of its location in the processional garden, beside the church.
