KASTEEL CANNENBURCH, in oorsprong 14de-eeuws, midden 16de eeuw opnieuw opgetrokken met gebruikmaking van bestaande kelders en opgaand muurwerk; uitbreiding in derde kwart 17de eeuw; veranderingen in het midden van de 18de eeuw; omgracht bakstenen gebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond met asymmetrische gevels en op de hoeken vierkante uitspringende hoektorens en een ingangstoren direct naast en aangebouwd tegen de zuidoostelijke hoektoren; fors hoog schilddak met leien gedekt; beide westtorens met schilddaken met grijze pannen; zuidoosttoren met schilddak met leidekking; ingangstoren en noordoosttoren met uivormige bekroning met leidekking; deels drie verdiepingen, deels twee verdiepingen op kelderverdieping; ingangstoren met fraaie zandstenen gevelversiering en -geleding in Renaissancestijl; meeste ramen met zesruits vensters; er zijn nog enkele kloosterramen met zandstenen tussendorpel en bekroning met driehoeksfronton met schelpmotiefvulling; ingangspartij, 1751, in terugspringend deel van voorgevel, met rijke zandstenen omlijsting in Lodewijk XIV-stijl; vóór de ingang een bordes, 1751, tussen de zuidwestelijke en zuidoostelijke torens met rijke balustrade in witgeverfde natuursteen; het bordes is met het voorplein verbonden door een brug (zie hiervoor onderdeel 4A). Het gebouw is in fasen gerestaureerd, met name in 1963-1964 en 1975-1981. Inwendig o.m.: oorspronkelijke (balken)plafonds, betimmeringen, vloeren, trappen en schouwen uit de diverse bouwperioden. In de hal Lodewijk XIV-decoratie met portretten van het echtpaar Van Isendoorn à Blois - van Renesse van Elderen, hun voorouders en familieleden. Op de verdieping een rooms-katholieke schuilkerk uit 1664.

CASTLE CANNENBURCH, originally 14th-century, rebuilt in the mid-16th century using existing cellars and masonry; extension in the third quarter of the 17th century; alterations in the mid-18th century; moated brick building on a rectangular ground plan with asymmetrical facades and on the corners square projecting corner towers and an entrance tower directly adjacent and built against the southeastern corner tower; steeply pitched hipped roof with slate covering; both west towers with hipped roofs with grey tiles; southeastern tower with hipped roof with slate covering; entrance tower and northeastern tower with owl-shaped crest with slate covering; partly three storeys, partly two storeys on basement level; entrance tower with fine sandstone facade decoration and articulation in Renaissance style; most windows with six-pane windows; there are still some cloister windows with sandstone mullion and crest with triangular pediment with shell-motif filling; entrance section, 1751, in recessed part of front facade, with rich sandstone frame in Louis XIV style; in front of the entrance a perron, 1751, between the southwestern and southeastern towers with rich balustrade in whitewashed natural stone; the perron is connected to the forecourt by a bridge (see component 4A for this). The building has been restored in phases, notably in 1963-1964 and 1975-1981. Interior including: original (timber) ceilings, panelling, floors, stairs and fireplaces from the various building periods. In the hall Louis XIV decoration with portraits of the couple Van Isendoorn à Blois - van Renesse van Elderen, their ancestors and family members. On the upper floor a Roman Catholic hidden church from 1664.
