Omschrijving
KANTOOR MET BOVENWONING in eclectisch stijl, gebouwd omstreeks 1890-1895 op een zeer diep rechthoekig terrein. De architect is misschien W.C. de Groot. In de wijkboeken over 1877-1888 is er al sprake van een wagenhuis op dit terrein. Van 1897 tot 1912 was Haring Schaap hier als stalhouder gevestigd. Mogelijk was hij de opdrachtgever van het complex. Na een geleidelijke verandering tot autobedrijf kwam het in 1976 in handen van een bouwbedrijf. De overbouwde doorrit naar het achterterrein had een gevel van kalkzandsteen, die in de jaren '50 vervangen is door een gevel in de trant van de Delftse School. Kantoor en bovenwoning werden vooral inwendig gewijzigd. De gebouwen op het achterterrein ondergingen slechts lichte wijzigingen. Waarschijnlijk is daar een gebouw verloren gegaan.
Omschrijving
EXTERIEUR: Het kantoor met bovenwoning heeft een diepe, rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt aan de rechterzijde begrensd door een steeg. Het telt twee bouwlagen plus kap, is twee traveeën breed en opgebouwd in roodbruine baksteen wat betreft de voorgevel en gele baksteen voor de zijgevels. Er is een hardstenen plint. De pui bestaat uit drie gewijzigde T-vensters en een eveneens gewijzigde deur. De bouwlagen worden van elkaar gescheiden door een zware geprofileerde lijst, die op de hoeken ornamenten in stucwerk hebben. De verdieping heeft twee gekoppelde, rechthoekige vensters met halfronde ontlastingsbogen. De velden zijn gevuld met metselmozaïek. De gevel wordt aan weerszijden beëindigd door smalle lisenen, die bekroond worden door gesluierde vrouwenkoppen. De geprofileerde daklijst wordt gedragen door twee consoles. Op het fries, dat een tandlijst heeft, is in zinken letters het woord 'STALHOUDERIJ.` aangebracht. Het voorste gedeelte van de kap is een schildkap, het achterste een mansardekap. De kajuit heeft gesneden wangen en een halfrond gebogen fronton, onlangs gereconstrueerd. De zijschilden zijn belegd met Lucas IJsbrandspannen, de overige met golfpannen. De achtergevel heeft op de begane grond dubbele, van elders afkomstige deuren in Neorenaissancevormen.
INTERIEUR: Het interieur van het kantoor is geheel verbouwd. Van de bovenwoning resteren o.a. en bijzonder rijke tegelvloer in de gang op de begane grond, de trappaal, paneeldeuren en een stucplafond in de gang. Bijzondere vermelding verdienen twee goed bewaarde polychrome plafonds en een schoorsteen op de tweede bouwlaag van de bovenwoning. In de voorkamer bevindt zich een beschilderd stucplafond in Neorenaissancestijl met opgelegd lijstwerk, hoekstukken en middenstuk, aangevuld met schilderingen in de trant van de florale Jugendstil en drie landschappen, waarin onder meer een zeer vroege afbeelding van een automobiel voorkomt. De schoorsteen heeft een zwartmarmeren mantel met in de haard blauwwitte tegels met vogels in een cartouche. De boezem wordt geflankeerd door twee driekwartzuilen en naar boven toe afgesloten door een hoofdgestel, uitgevoerd in stuc in Neorenaissance met maniëristische trekjes. De achterkamer heeft een iets eenvoudiger plafond met Neorenaissance lijstwerk en middenstuk, aangevuld met een beschildering in Jugendstil met vogels en bloemen. Op de zolder bevonden zich slaapkamertjes voor het personeel.

OFFICE WITH UPPER FLOOR FLAT in eclectic style, built around 1890-1895 on a very deep rectangular plot. The architect may have been W.C. de Groot. In the district records for 1877-1888 there is already mention of a coach house on this site. From 1897 to 1912 Haring Schaap was established here as a stable keeper. It is possible that he was the patron of the complex. After a gradual conversion to a car repair business it came into the hands of a building company in 1976. The covered passageway to the rear plot had a façade of calcium silicate brick, which in the 1950s was replaced by a façade in the style of the Delft School. The office and upper floor flat were modified mainly internally. The buildings on the rear plot underwent only minor alterations. Presumably a building was lost there.
Description
EXTERIOR: The office with upper floor flat has a deep, rectangular floor plan and is bounded on the right side by an alley. It comprises two storeys plus roof space, is two bays wide and constructed in red-brown brick as regards the front façade and yellow brick for the side façades. There is a sandstone plinth. The shop front consists of three modified T-windows and an equally modified door. The storeys are separated from one another by a heavy moulded band, which on the corners have ornaments in stucco. The first floor has two coupled, rectangular windows with semicircular relieving arches. The fields are filled with decorative brickwork. The façade is terminated on both sides by narrow pilasters, which are crowned by veiled female heads. The moulded cornice is borne by two consoles. On the frieze, which has a dentil band, the word 'STALHOUDERIJ.' is applied in zinc letters. The front part of the roof space is a hipped roof, the rear part a mansard roof. The roof structure has carved cheeks and a semicircle-curved pediment, recently reconstructed. The side roof panels are covered with Lucas IJsbrand tiles, the rest with corrugated tiles. The rear façade has on the ground floor double doors from elsewhere in Neo-Renaissance forms.
INTERIOR: The interior of the office has been completely rebuilt. From the upper floor flat remain among others a particularly rich tile floor in the hallway on the ground floor, the staircase newel, panelled doors and a stucco ceiling in the hallway. Two well-preserved polychrome ceilings and a fireplace on the second storey of the upper floor flat deserve special mention. In the front room there is a painted stucco ceiling in Neo-Renaissance style with applied mouldings, corner sections and centrepiece, supplemented with paintings in the style of floral Art Nouveau and three landscapes, which among other things include a very early depiction of an automobile. The fireplace has a black marble surround with blue and white tiles with birds in a cartouche in the hearth. The breast is flanked by two three-quarter columns and closed off upwards by a header, executed in stucco in Neo-Renaissance with mannerist features. The back room has a slightly simpler ceiling with Neo-Renaissance mouldings and centrepiece, supplemented with a painting in Art Nouveau style with birds and flowers. On the loft there were small bedrooms for the staff.
