Omschrijving onderdeel 2:
PARKAANLEG, XVIII-c; aanleg in gemengde stijl: rond het nog uit de barok stammende element van de lange hoofdas is een parkaanleg in de vroege landschapsstijl gecomponeerd met een intensief net van slingerpaden; het park ligt achter (zuidwest) en -in zuidelijke richting - schuin achter het kasteel; aan de voorzijde van het kasteel ligt -in de hoofdas- alleen de oprijlaan, die voorzien is van nieuwe laanbomen en bestrating; vanuit het kasteel gezien loopt het park, enigszins in een dal liggend, op in zuidwestelijke richting; in dit dal lopen enkele min of meer evenwijdige smalle beekjes, die de ronde vijvers voeden;
De hoofdas bestaat uit een vrij brede laan, die pas op enige afstand van het kasteel begint; van de originele beplanting van dubbele rijen tamme kastanjes zijn nog enkele zeer monumentale exemplaren over! Direct achter het kasteel ligt in de as een grote ronde vijver in een grasveld, waarin het kasteel zich spiegelt; ter weerszijden staan -langs het rondgaande pad - twee identieke 18e eeuwse sokkels (zie onder 7); verdergaand langs de as (en aldus langzaam naar boven lopend) komen we rechts een kleine cascade van drie boven elkaar geplaatste bakken tegen (zie onder 7); de tegenhanger, die ter linker zijde verwacht zou worden, ontbreekt; verder naar boven liggen -symmetrisch ter weerszijden van de as - nog twee ronde vijvers; de as heeft geen duidelijk eindpunt; de parkdelen ter weerszijden van de as bestaan voornamelijk uit glooiende gazons met slingerpaden en nauwelijks zichtbare waterstroompjes, waartussen solitairen, boom- en heestergroepen, waaronder rhododendrons; in de zuidoostelijke parkstrook ligt het restant van een kleine oude boomgaard; ten oosten van het kasteel liggen, juist buiten de eigenlijke parkaanleg, twee rechthoekige molenvijvers, waarvan één zeer grote; deze is omgeven door lage dijkjes, op de zuidelijke waarvan een oude eikenlaan staat; de nieuw ingeplante boomgaard en de weidepercelen ten zuiden en oosten van het kasteel, waarin het mausoleum staat (zie onder 3), zijn als landschappelijk-visuele buffers in het beschermde complex opgenomen.

PARK LAYOUT, 18th century; layout in mixed style: around the element of the long main axis still dating from the Baroque, a park layout has been composed in the early landscape style with an intensive network of winding paths; the park lies behind (southwest) and - in a southerly direction - diagonally behind the castle; at the front of the castle lies - along the main axis - only the drive, which is provided with new avenue trees and paving; viewed from the castle, the park, lying somewhat in a valley, rises in a southwesterly direction; in this valley run several more or less parallel narrow streams, which feed the round ponds;
The main axis consists of a fairly wide avenue, which only begins at some distance from the castle; of the original planting of double rows of sweet chestnuts, several very monumental specimens remain! Directly behind the castle lies in the axis a large round pond in a lawn, in which the castle is reflected; on either side stand - along the circumnavigating path - two identical 18th-century plinths (see below 7); continuing along the axis (and thus gradually rising) we encounter on the right a small cascade of three basins placed one above the other (see below 7); the counterpart, which would be expected on the left side, is missing; further up lie - symmetrically on either side of the axis - two more round ponds; the axis has no clear endpoint; the park sections on either side of the axis consist mainly of sloping lawns with winding paths and barely visible water streams, interspersed with solitary trees, tree and shrub groups, including rhododendrons; in the southeastern park strip lies the remnant of a small old orchard; to the east of the castle lie, just outside the actual park layout, two rectangular mill ponds, one of which is very large; this is surrounded by low dikes, on the southern one of which stands an old oak avenue; the newly planted orchard and the meadow parcels to the south and east of the castle, in which the mausoleum stands (see below 3), have been included in the protected complex as landscape-visual buffers.
