Omschrijving
PARKAANLEG, eerste kwart negentiende eeuw, bestaande uit: a. parkje binnen de gracht, b. buitensingel en c. weilanden.
Addendum a.: het door de oorspronkelijke buitengracht omgeven eiland is amper 2 hectare groot; één derde ervan wordt in beslag genomen door de bebouwing en het nieuw ingerichte voorplein; het parkgedeelte is dus relatief bescheiden; een aarden dam in de tot een slingervijver vergraven gracht leidt van het dorp naar het eiland; op de dam reeds begint een korte oprijlaan met enkele rijen linden, die tot aan het grindplein rond het huis voert; het parkje heeft een intensief patroon van slingerpaadjes en relatief veel oud geboomte; het meest oostelijke pad (langs de buitengracht) heeft een laanbeplanting van enkele rijen beuk; tussen het huis en het zuidelijke bouwhuis staan drie solitairen: twee paardenkastanjes en een Amerikaanse eik; midden in het parkje, dat enigszins geaccidenteerd is, liggen een ronde vijver en een ijskelder (zie onder 5); het voorplein heeft een nieuwe beplanting, die als zodanig voor de bescherming van ondergeschikt belang is.
De buitengracht stond vroeger via een sloot langs de Vordenseweg in verbinding met de Baakse Beek; daarom loopt de vijverpartij nog oostwaarts in een punt uit langs de weg.
Addendum b.: vanaf de Pastoriestraat (in het verlengde van de Wichmondseweg) loopt een brede singel in de vorm van een lage dijk aan de buitenkant langs de gracht tot aan de Vordenseweg, waar hij, de loop van het water volgend, puntvormig eindigt; midden op de singel ligt een wandelpad, vanwaar af er een goed zicht is op de gebouwen en het parkje; de singel is onregelmatig beplant met -voornamelijk- oud loofhout; ook staan er, evenals in het parkje zelf, enige coniferen.
Addendum c.: tussen de singel, de Pastoriestraat en de Baakse Beek liggen enkele grote weilanden, die landschappelijk en visueel met de parkaanleg rond het huis verbonden zijn; in het westelijke weiland staat een groep oude eiken en een monumentale solitaire eik. Direct ten zuiden langs de Vordenseweg, tegenover het parkje, ligt een fraai omzoomd weiland, een hertenweide, waarin enkele solitaire kastanjes en een oud houten schuurtje (zie onder 6); verder een langwerpige vijver; het weiland is in de winter vanuit het huis te zien.
Ook het met enkele rijen beuk beplante deel van de Vordenseweg, dat langs het park ligt, maakt deel uit van de beschermde buitenplaats.
Waardering
De PARKAANLEG is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- vanwege de subtiele kleinschalige landschappelijke aanleg binnen de gracht;
- vanwege de landschappelijk-visuele waarden, zowel als entourage van het huis en bijgebouwen als vanwege de combinatie met het silhouet van het dorp.

Description
PARK LAYOUT, first quarter of the 19th century, consisting of: a. small park within the moat, b. outer belt and c. meadowland.
Addendum a.: the island surrounded by the original outer moat is barely 2 hectares in size; one third of it is taken up by the buildings and the newly arranged front courtyard; the park section is therefore relatively modest; an earth embankment in the moat, which has been enlarged into a meandering pond, leads from the village to the island; on the embankment already begins a short drive with several rows of lime trees, which leads to the gravel courtyard around the house; the small park has an intensive pattern of meandering paths and relatively much old trees; the most easterly path (along the outer moat) has a lane planting of several rows of beech; between the house and the southern utility building stand three solitary trees: two horse chestnuts and an American oak; in the middle of the small park, which is somewhat varied in topography, lie a round pond and an ice house (see below 5); the front courtyard has new planting, which as such is of subordinate importance for the protection.
The outer moat was formerly connected via a ditch along the Vordenseweg to the Baakse Beek; therefore the pond system still extends eastwards to a point along the road.
Addendum b.: from the Pastoriestraat (in the extension of the Wichmondseweg) a broad belt runs in the form of a low dike on the outside along the moat to the Vordenseweg, where it, following the course of the water, ends in a point; in the middle of the belt lies a walking path, from which there is a good view of the buildings and the small park; the belt is irregularly planted with - mainly - old deciduous timber; also, as in the small park itself, there are some conifers.
Addendum c.: between the belt, the Pastoriestraat and the Baakse Beek lie several large meadows, which are connected to the park layout around the house in landscape and visual terms; in the western meadow stand a group of old oaks and a monumental solitary oak. Directly to the south along the Vordenseweg, opposite the small park, lies a beautifully bordered meadow, a deer park, in which stand some solitary chestnuts and an old wooden barn (see below 6); also a long narrow pond; the meadow can be seen from the house in winter.
Also the section of the Vordenseweg planted with several rows of beech, which runs along the park, forms part of the protected country estate.
Valuation
The PARK LAYOUT is of general importance:
- because of its age;
- because of the subtle small-scale landscape design within the moat;
- because of the landscape-visual values, both as a setting for the house and outbuildings and because of the combination with the silhouette of the village.
