Inleiding
Voormalig keuterijtje, gelegen op het niet afgegraven gedeelte van de terp van Jannum, even ten westen van de Romaanse kerk. In aanleg wellicht nog 17de-eeuws gebouw dat in de vroege 19de eeuw is verbouwd. De voorgevel is vernieuwd in jongere rode baksteen; de achtergevel is recent (1999) met hout beschoten. Het interieur kent nog een aantal waardevolle onderdelen. Bouwgeschiedenis, interieuronderdelen en ligging vormen dan ook de belangrijkste redenen voor de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Verdiepingloos gebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond, opgetrokken uit baksteen uit verschillende perioden en gedekt door een met rode Hollandse pannen belegd zadeldak tussen topgevels; afluivingen aan oost- en westzijde. Met uitzondering van een 19de-eeuws zesruitsraam zijn indeling en detaillering van de gevels weinig oorspronkelijk. INTERIEUR Inwendig is het gebouw verdeeld in een voor- en een achterhuis, van elkaar gescheiden door een gang. Onder meer de volgende onderdelen zijn van belang: in de voorkamer een vloer van brede delen en een balkenplafond; tegen de noordwand een vroeg-19de-eeuwse houten schouw met bewerkte boezem; in de nis witte tegels; aan bovenzijde eenvoudig profiel; in de achterkamer een eveneens vroeg-19de-eeuwse houten schouw, verwant aan die in de voorkamer; tegen de oostwand een houten bedsteden/kastenwand (waaronder keldertje) met opgeklampte deuren en eenvoudig profiel.

Introduction
Former smallholding, located on the unearthed part of the terp of Jannum, just west of the Romanesque church. Likely a 17th-century building in its original form that was remodelled in the early 19th century. The front facade has been renewed in more recent red brick; the rear facade was recently (1999) clad with wood. The interior still contains a number of valuable components. Building history, interior components and location are therefore the main reasons for its protection.
Description
Single-storey building on a rectangular plan, constructed of brick from different periods and covered by a gabled roof with saddle roof, tiled with red Dutch tiles between gabled ends; half-hipped roofs on the east and west sides. With the exception of a 19th-century six-pane window, the layout and detailing of the facades are little original. INTERIOR Internally the building is divided into a front and rear house, separated from each other by a corridor. Among other notable components are the following: in the front room a floor of broad boards and a beam ceiling; against the north wall an early 19th-century wooden fireplace with worked overmantel; in the recess white tiles; at the top simple moulding; in the rear room an equally early 19th-century wooden fireplace, similar to that in the front room; against the east wall a wooden built-in bed and cupboard wall (including small cellar) with bolted doors and simple moulding.
