Omschrijving
Inleiding
In 1898-1899 gebouwde VILLA.

Description
Introduction
A VILLA built in 1898-1899. The villa is executed in a style inspired by late 16th-century Flemish-Dutch Renaissance. The building was, given the stylistic similarities with the villas Zutphensestraatweg 34 and 36, presumably also designed by Eelco Lofvers, the inspector/architect from Sappemeer. The villa is positioned with its front facade directly onto the street and is surrounded by a garden on three sides. The villa was later divided and is now occupied as two dwellings.
Description
The building has two storeys under a hipped roof covered with smothered renewed improved Dutch tiles. On the rear side, the building is extended over a depth of two bays (partly later), with the bay adjacent to the main building mass having two storeys and the bay in front of it having one storey, both under a flat roof. The plastered plinth running around is grey-washed. The front and side facades are finished with a plastered, white-washed rounded arch frieze topped by a moulded cornice (containing the gutter). The facades are enlivened by plastered horizontal bands running across the facades at the level of the lower, middle and upper window sills. All windows have plastered corner and closing stones executed in the brick stretcher courses and arches. The central risalit of the front facade is also executed in bright red brick.
The symmetrically arranged FRONT FACADE has one window axis on the left and right and two window axes in the central risalit. Both the left and right window axes have on the ground floor a window enclosed by a cock's comb containing a single-pane sash window and on the first floor a window enclosed by a stretcher with a T-sash window. The slightly projecting central risalit terminates in a tower-like roof structure with a stepped gable with cement or natural stone claw brackets containing a T-sash window enclosed by a tower-point-like hipped roof. On the ground floor there are two sash windows enclosed by a stretcher topped by a simple moulded cordon moulding. The first floor contains two T-sash windows topped by two blind rounded arches executed in bright red brick.
The LEFT SIDE FACADE of the main building mass has on the ground floor on the left the entrance of no. 19 with a panelled door containing two wrought-iron window grilles. On the right there is a conservatory recently renewed in the original form. The first floor contains two windows enclosed by stretchers with T-sash windows. The extension on the left has on the ground floor a window with two two-pane casement windows and a two-pane fanlight. On the left is a simple hinged window.
The REAR FACADE has various doors and windows distributed across the facade from different periods.
The RIGHT SIDE FACADE of the main building mass has on the left both on the ground floor and the first floor a window enclosed by a stretcher containing on the ground floor a single-pane sash window and on the first floor a T-sash window. On the right is the entrance door of no. 21 added after the division. The extension has various windows including at the far right a six-pane sash window with wooden shutters clamped on either side.
In the INTERIOR of no. 19, in contrast to no. 21, several original interior components have been preserved, among others a staircase with a worked end baluster; rooms en suite with a marble fireplace mantel and ornamented stucco ceilings as well as moulded door surrounds and panelled doors.
