Omschrijving
Inleiding.

Description
Introduction.
R.C. CHURCH of Holy Willibrordus to a design by J. Stuyt, in collaboration with J.Th.J. Cuypers from 1910-1911 added on. The church displays elements of a Neo-Romanesque architectural style.
Description.
Three-aisle CHURCH with broad nave under a gabled roof, perpendicular to the street. The side aisles have per bay transversely placed small gabled roofs. Against the rear facade a semicircular apse under slate roofing. To the left of the nave stands a square tower under a gabled roof, the ridge of which runs parallel to the nave of the church. To the right of the front facade is a quarter-round chapel with zinc roofing placed in the corner between the nave and the further rear-lying side aisle.
The church is executed in yellow brick; the gables of the side aisles and top edge of the apse are tiled with black and white tiles in a diamond pattern. The roofs are covered with red improved Dutch tiles; the gabled roofs are provided with wind vanes with brackets. At the rear, on the roof of the nave, a bell gable with round-arch opening is set, finished with a half-round coping. In the front facade are two double round-arch doors, positioned slightly recessed in the facade. The doors are executed in wood and contain heavy iron rings as handles. Above them three round-arch windows, filled with stained glass. Below the windows a brick offset. At the level of this offset, a zigzag band in the masonry is applied across the facade.
In the side facade, in the side aisles, per bay three round-arch windows filled with stained glass are installed, the middle window of which is higher than the outer windows. The bays are separated from each other by buttresses. The clerestory has small round-arch windows, also filled with stained glass. The top edge is provided with a tooth-moulding. Above it a gutter on corbels. The facade of the apse has the same termination. The apse has stained-glass windows. In the tower is a small door, framed by a projecting brick edging with triangular crest. Furthermore, the tower has a number of narrow light openings. Halfway up, a zigzag band in the masonry is applied in brick. The upper part of the tower has round-arched bell openings, on front and rear side a double opening, both sides three-part, with natural stone partial columns. In the gable is a star-shaped clock face with Roman numerals, executed in tiles, installed. The hands are of gilt metal.
The roof is crowned by a gilt weather vane.
In the interior, the wall has a two-part elevation consisting of round arcades resting on straight piers with a brick base and above the clerestory. The floor of the church is tiled with reddish-brown, black and yellow tiles. The walls are provided with modern white textured plasterwork with grey mouldings. The open roof structure is executed in wood. Around the entrance, in the nave, a portal consisting of wooden panels and doors is set.
The inventory includes, among other things, a sculptural group of Joseph, Mary and Jesus as a child, with a pierced heart, placed at the rear of the church. Against the piers are placed artificial stone statues of saints; against the walls are Stations of the Cross. In the apse, against the rear wall, stands an organ from 1853 by François Bernard Loret from Mechelen. In 1961 given a new casing by the Gebrs. Vermeulen from Weert.
