Inleiding.
KAPEL van de H. Antonius, gebouwd rond 1880 in Ambachtelijk-Traditionele stijl, met Neo-Gotische elementen. De devotie kent ter plaatse een oudere traditie.
Omschrijving.
De KAPEL is een éénlaags gebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond onder zadeldak waarvan de nok haaks op de straat staat. Het pand is uitgevoerd in rode baksteen, voorzien van een gepleisterde plint. Het dak is gedekt met zwarte kruispannen.
Tegen de voorgevel is een blokvormig portaal onder een zadeldak geplaatst. Dit dak heeft een windveer met makelaar en een betimmerde topgevel. De ingang bestaat uit een dubbele, opgeklampte deur met bovenlicht, gevuld met kathedraalglas. Aan weerszijden van het portaal spitsboogramen, voorzien van een vorktracering, de topgevel heeft drie kleinere spitsboogramen. Ook in de beide zijgevels zijn spitsboogramen aangebracht, de ontlastingsboog boven het raam is in gele IJsselsteen uitgevoerd. Het achterste raam in de rechterzijgevel is dichtgemetseld. Tegen de achtergevel is een kleine absis zichtbaar. Aangrenzend aan de rechterzijgevel is een éénlaagse verbindingsgang onder zadeldak van de kapel naar de kerk gemaakt. Hierin zijn twee rondboogramen, gevuld met glas-in-lood zichtbaar.
In het interieur is de gang een geheel met de kapel waardoor deze een L-vormige plattegrond heeft. De vloer is betegeld, de wanden zijn wit gepleisterd. De kapel heeft een houten betimmering in de kap met trekbalken. In de nis staat een natuurstenen altaar met beeld van de Heilige Antonius. Daarboven is in gotische letters het opschrift: "H. ANTONIUS ROEMRIJKE WONDERDOENER BVO" aangebracht.
In de hoek rechts achter is een deur naar de pastorie, links een dubbele deur naar de kerk.
Waardering.
De kapel is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme in het zuiden en is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de devotiekapel.
Het geheel heeft architectuurhistorisch belang door de stijl en de detaillering, waarin enkele neogotische elementen zijn gebruikt. Het heeft ensemblewaarden vanwege de bijzondere situering, verbonden met de ontwikkeling van het kerkdorp. Het is van belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische en typologische zeldzaamheid.

The CHAPEL is a single-storey building on a rectangular ground plan under a gabled roof, the ridge of which is perpendicular to the street. The building is executed in red brick, provided with a plastered plinth. The roof is covered with black Spanish tiles.
Against the front facade is a block-shaped portal under a gabled roof. This roof has a wind vane with bracket and a boarded gable. The entrance consists of a double, clamped door with fanlight, filled with cathedral glass. On either side of the portal are pointed-arch windows, provided with forked tracery; the gable has three smaller pointed-arch windows. Pointed-arch windows are also installed in both side facades; the relieving arch above the window is executed in yellow IJssel stone. The rear window in the right side facade is bricked up. Against the rear facade a small apse is visible. Adjacent to the right side facade, a single-storey connecting passage under a gabled roof from the chapel to the church has been made. Two round-arch windows filled with stained glass are visible in this.
In the interior, the passage forms a whole with the chapel, whereby this has an L-shaped ground plan. The floor is tiled; the walls are plastered white. The chapel has wooden roof truss structure with tie beams. In the niche stands a natural stone altar with a statue of Saint Antonius. Above it, in Gothic letters, the inscription is placed: "H.
