Inleiding
SCHAAPSKOOI, van oorsprong behorend bij de boerderij 'Groot Wolfswinkel'. De schaapskooi en boerderij stonden vóór de grenswijziging in 1960 op het grondgebied van het Gelderse Scherpenzeel. De schapenhouderij en de daarmee samenhangende vorm van akkerbemesting speelde vanaf de Middeleeuwen een belangrijke rol in de landbouw in de Gelderse Vallei.
De schaapskooi ligt vrij in het open weiland ten noorden van de Utrechtseweg ten noordoosten van de boerderij.
In 1991 is de schaaplooi gerestaureerd. De oorspronkelijke slietenzolder voor hooiopslag is niet meer aanwezig.
Omschrijving
De schaapskooi, die noord/oost-zuid/west is georiënteerd, is gelegen op een rechthoekige plattegrond met afgeschuinde hoeken en is in hout opgetrokken op een hoge bakstenen plint. De gevels bestaan uit horizontale, gepotdekselde delen, die deels aan de binnenzijde en deels aan de buitenzijde van de verticale constructie bevestigd zijn. Deze verticale wanddelen rusten op de bakstenen plint. Het afgewolfde dak is deels met riet en rode oud-Hollandse pan gedekt. De nok is belegd met rode rietvorsten. In de voor- en achtergevel(nd/o-zijde) bevinden zich dubbele opgeklampte deuren met daarboven luiken. In de drie traveeën lange binnenruimte is de open, driebeukige ruimte met houten kapconstructie (gordingenkap) en standvinken met houten pen- en gatverbindingen op bakstenen poeren en onverharde vloer intact. De spanten zijn gemerkt: I tot en met IIII.
Waardering
De schaapskooi is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als vrij gaaf en redelijk zeldzaam voorbeeld van een negentiende-eeuwse schaapskooi, vanwege de karakteristieke hoofdvorm en materiaalgebruik en als reflectie van de geschiedenis van de schapenhouderij.
De kooi heeft landschappelijke waarde vanwege de beeldbepalende ligging in het open weidelandschap.

SHEEP SHELTER, originally belonging to the farmstead 'Groot Wolfswinkel'. The sheep shelter and farmstead stood before the border adjustment in 1960 on the territory of the Gelderland Scherpenzeel. Sheep husbandry and the associated form of soil fertilisation played an important role in agriculture in the Gelderland Valley from the Middle Ages onwards.
The sheep shelter stands freely in the open meadow to the north of the Utrechtseweg northeast of the farmstead.

Description
The sheep shelter, oriented north/east-south/west, is situated on a rectangular ground plan with bevelled corners and is constructed in wood on a high brick plinth. The facades consist of horizontal, tarred timber sections, which are partly attached to the inside and partly to the outside of the vertical construction. These vertical wall sections rest on the brick plinth. The half-hipped roof is partly thatched with reed and red old-Dutch tiles. The ridge is covered with red reed cresting. In the front and rear facades (n/e-side) there are double hooked doors with shutters above. In the three bays long interior space the open, three-aisle room with wooden roof truss structure (collar-tie truss) and struts with wooden mortise and tenon joints on brick piers and unfinished floor is intact. The rafters are marked: I through IIII.
Valuation
The sheep shelter is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural historical value as a fairly well-preserved and reasonably rare example of a nineteenth-century sheep shelter, because of its characteristic main form and use of materials and as a reflection of the history of sheep husbandry.
The shelter has landscape value because of its visually prominent location in the open meadow landscape.
