Inleiding
Op één van de beboste kunstmatig opgeworpen heuveltjes, in de weide die zich ten zuidoosten van het voormalige landhuis De Groote Slink uitstrekt, staat een eenvoudige THEEKOEPEL, gebouwd omstreeks 1910. Gezeten in de koepel, die omringd wordt door een twintigtal in cirkelvorm aangeplante eiken, heeft men uitzicht over de omringende weilanden, die omgeven worden door de bossen van park De Groote Slink.
Omschrijving
De op het hoogste deel van het heuveltje staande houten theekoepel heeft een vierkante plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een met gepotdekselde houten planken belegd tentdakje. De houten stijlen zijn middels ijzeren hoekprofielen gesteld op bakstenen poeren. Aan de bovenzijde worden de stijlen onder- ling verbonden middels zware, met korbelen uitgeruste dekbal- ken, waarop het tentdak rust. Alle houten delen zijn middels pen-gat verbindingen in elkaar gelaten. Sommige delen, zoals de korbelen, zijn gespijkerd. Op ca. een meter van het maai- veld is tussen de stijlen op balken een houten vloer gehangen, waarop een rondgaande houten balustrade en twee eenvoudige houten, in de stijlen ingelaten banken, waartussen een even- eens houten tafel met spieverbindingen in de poten. De koepel is aan de westelijke zijde toegankelijk middels een kleine, uit drie treden bestaande trap met een kleine bakstenen stoep.
Waardering
De theekoepel heeft algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuur- historische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culture- le, geografische en landschappelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de ontginning van de Peel door particulieren in der periode kort na 1900. Het is van belang voor de geschiedenis van de archi- tectuur en de tuinkunst. On one of the wooded artificially constructed hillocks, in the meadow that extends to the southeast of the former country house De Groote Slink, stands a simple TEA HOUSE, built around 1910. Seated in the pavilion, which is surrounded by some twenty oak trees planted in a circle, one has a view over the surrounding meadows, which are enclosed by the woods of park De Groote Slink.
Description
The wooden tea house standing on the highest part of the hillock has a square ground plan and is covered by a tent roof clad with wooden boards rendered with tar. The wooden posts are placed on brick piers by means of iron corner profiles. At the upper level the posts are mutually connected by means of heavy corbelled wall plates, on which the tent roof rests. All wooden parts are jointed together by means of mortise and tenon joints. Some parts, such as the corbels, are nailed. At approximately one metre from the ground level a wooden floor is suspended between the posts on beams, on which rests a surrounding wooden balustrade and two simple wooden benches, let into the posts, between which stands likewise a wooden table with mortise and tenon joints in the legs. The pavilion is accessible from the western side by means of a small stair consisting of three steps with a small brick platform.
Valuation
The tea house is of general interest. The object has cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of a cultural, geographical and landscape development, namely the reclamation of the Peel by private individuals in the period shortly after 1900. It is of importance for the history of architecture and garden design.
