Inleiding
Aan de westelijke zijde van de Nieuwstraat staat, door een kleine stoep van de straat gescheiden, een vrijstaand, rijk gedecoreerd WOONHUIS met onder meer neo-renaissance motieven uit omstreeks 1895. Tussen nummer 33 en 35 is een smalle, doodlopende drupsteeg.
Omschrijving
Het woonhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, telt één bouwlaag en heeft een mansardedak met, op het schild aan de voorzijde, geschubde lei in Maasdekking. Het huis is door een smalle drupsteeg van de buurpanden gescheiden. De symmetrische voorgevel heeft vijf vensterassen, is uitge- voerd in strengperssteen en is voorzien van een middenrisaliet met hoeklisenen, die boven de gootlijst als pijlers worden voortgezet. De gevel is verder geleed door een hardstenen dorpellijst en kunststenen plint, banden, hoek-, geboorte- en sluitstenen en wordt afgesloten door een fries met een in een kunststenen omlijsting gevat strengpersmozaïek en een geprofileerde gootlijst. Centraal in de gevel is een middenrisaliet met in een ondiep portiek een paneeldeur met trekbel, smeedijzeren deurrooster, handgrepen en brievenbus. De risaliet wordt bekroond door een topgevel met gestileerde kunststenen klauwstukken, lijsten en obelisk-achtige bekroning. De voordeur wordt aan beide zijden geflankeerd door twee T-vensters met achttienruits bovenlichten. In het zuidelijke venster zijn twee kelderlichten met smeedijzeren roosters aangebracht. De begane grond wordt door twee halfvensters, de etage door een zesruits schuifvenster verlicht. De noordelijke zijgevel is blind. De achtergevel, die is voorzien van een muizetandlijst, heeft schuifvensters met opgeklampte luiken. Haaks op deze gevel is aan de zuidelijke zijde een kleine, eenlaags bakstenen aanbouw onder zadeldak, gedekt met tuile-du-nord pannen en voorzien van een opgeklampte deur, een opgeklampte deur met bovenlicht en een venster achter opgeklampte luiken. Het pand heeft een betegelde stoep met zes hardstenen stoeppalen, waartussen telkens een kleine smeedijzeren sierpaal, verbonden door smeedijzeren kettingen.

The dwelling has a rectangular floor plan, comprises one storey and has a mansard roof with, on the shield on the front side, slates scaled in Maas covering. The house is separated from the neighbouring properties by a narrow drip alley. The symmetrical front facade has five window bays, is executed in pressed brick and is provided with a central risalit with corner pilasters, which above the gutter line are continued as pillars. The facade is further articulated by a hardstone sill band and artificial stone plinth, bands, corner, birth and closing stones and is concluded by a frieze with a pressed brick mosaic set in an artificial stone frame and a profiled gutter band. Central to the facade is a central risalit with in a shallow porch a panelled door with bell-pull, wrought-iron door grille, handles and letterbox. The risalit is crowned by a gable with stylised artificial stone claw-pieces, mouldings and obelisk-like crown. The front door is flanked on both sides by two T-windows with eighteen-pane fanlights. In the southern window two cellar lights with wrought-iron grilles are installed. The ground floor is lit by two half-windows, the upper floor by a six-pane sash window. The northern side facade is blind. The rear facade, which is provided with a mouse-tooth moulding, has sash windows with clamped shutters. At right angles to this facade is on the southern side a small, single-storey brick extension under a gabled roof, covered with tuile-du-nord tiles and provided with a clamped door, a clamped door with fanlight and a window behind clamped shutters. The property has a tiled stoop with six hardstone bollards, between which each time a small wrought-iron ornamental bollard, connected by wrought-iron chains.
