Inleiding
Voormalige SCHUILKERK "St. Joseph" in Waterstaatsclassicisme uit ca. 1850, nu horecagelegenheid. Het object heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond met een hoge voor-en een lagere achterbouw. Aan de zuidkant van de kerk ligt de bijbehorende kosterij. In 1891 werd de kerk in de hoogte in tweeën gedeeld en kreeg een andere functie.
Omschrijving
De kerk uit ca. 1640 heeft een tweelaagse voorbouw met een ingezwenkte halsgevel met fronton aan de straat. De voorbouw heeft een zinken dak dat de vorm van de halsgevel volgt.
De symmetrische, van blokpleisterwerk voorziene halsgevel, is drie traveeën breed. De gevel heeft een basement, hoekpilasters met terracotta kapitelen, middenrisaliet, gekorniste kroonlijst en fries. In de middenrisaliet de monumentale hoofdingang bestaande uit een dubbele paneelvoordeur met houtsnij- en lijstwerk gelijk aan die van de deuren in de kosterij. Hierboven een bovenlicht in een rondboog. In de voorgevel op de begane grond tweedelige vensters met zij- en tussenzuiltjes met een Korintisch kapiteel en in bovenlicht glas-in-lood. In een nis in de halsgevel het beeld van de patroonheilige.
Alle muuropeningen, in zowel de voor- als de achterbouw, zijn voorzien van een rondboog waarin houten roedenvensters met een geometrische roedenverdeling. De achterbouw heeft eveneens twee bouwlagen. Hierin bevindt zich een vier traveeën tellende, driebeukige zaalkerk onder zadeldak gedekt met Oudhollandse pannen. Zowel de voor- als de achterbouw zijn opgetrokken uit handgevormde baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband.
Op de bovenverdieping van de achterbouw is de oorspronkelijke indeling met de ronde houten zuilen en het stucplafond van de kerkruimte nog aanwezig.
De zuilen hebben Dorische kapitelen. Het stucplafond heeft een gewelfde middenbeuk met lijstwerk in geometrische motieven en vlakgedekte zijbeuken.
Waardering
De voormalige schuilkerk is van algemeen belang. Het geheel heeft cultuurhistorische waarden: het is van belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme; het is van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de schuilkerken.

Former HIDDEN CHURCH "St. Joseph" in Water Authority Classicism from ca. 1850, now a catering establishment. In 1891 the church was divided horizontally and given another function.
Description
The church from ca. 1640 has a two-storey front section with an angled neck gable with pediment facing the street. The front section has a zinc roof that follows the shape of the neck gable.
The symmetrical, block-plastered neck gable is three bays wide. The facade has a basement, corner pilasters with terracotta capitals, central avant-corps, corniced cornice and frieze. In the central avant-corps the monumental main entrance consisting of a double panel door with wood carving and moulding work identical to those of the doors in the caretaker's house. Above this a fanlight in a round arch. In the front facade on the ground floor two-part windows with side and intermediate columns with a Corinthian capital and in the fanlight glazing bars. In a niche in the neck gable the image of the patron saint.
All wall openings, in both the front and rear sections, are provided with a round arch in which wooden glazing-bar windows with a geometric glazing-bar division. The rear section also has two storeys. In it is located a four-bay, three-aisle church hall under a gabled roof covered with Dutch Old tiles. Both the front and rear sections are constructed of hand-formed brickwork laid in English bond.
On the upper floor of the rear section the original layout with the round wooden columns and the stuccoed ceiling of the church space is still present.
The columns have Doric capitals. The stuccoed ceiling has a vaulted central aisle with moulding work in geometric motifs and flat-ceilinged side aisles.
