Inleiding
In 1912-1913 in het voormalige theater Victoria tot stand gekomen voormalige GOUD- EN ZILVERFABRIEK genaamd 'H. Drijfhout & Zn.', een edelmetaalverwerkend bedrijf met kantoorruimte en gevels naar een ontwerp van de architect Joseph Herman in de stijl van het Traditionalisme en in opdracht van Willem Habes Drijfhout. Op de begane grond de voormalige kantoorruimte als publiekshal met aangrenzende burelen en spreekkamers.
Omschrijving
Op samengesteld grondplan tot stand gekomen en geheel door overige bebouwing omsloten voormalig fabrieksgebouw met kantoren bestaande uit drie bouwlagen boven een onderkeldering. De zeer monumentale en symmetrische voorgevel bevindt zich aan de Nes en bestaat geheel uit zand- en hardsteen. Rechte gevelbeëindiging en verder aan deze zijde plat afgesloten. Voorgevel met zware rustica met ruw behakte blokken hardsteen op gladde en hoge plint. Centrale toegang met portiek met lambrizering en met stoep met drie treden. Aan weerszijden drie smalle vensters met traliewerk. Zowel aan de linker- als aan de rechterzijde een licht getoogde eikenhouten toegangsdeur met rooster. Cordonlijst met florale decoratie. Monumentale middenpartij boven de centrale toegang met fantasie-pilaster op consoles op de muurdammen tussen de smalle vensters en met heraldische decoratie (wapens van Gaasterland en Amsterdam). Florale decoratie en fantasie- kapiteel met voluten en waarop hoofdgestel met fries met jaartalstenen '1827' en '1912' en met sier- en kroonlijst met spuwers. Hoge vensters met geleed bovenlicht en middenvenster met omlopende geleding. Boven de toegang een geveldecoratie met flankerende vrouwenkoppen en figuratieve verbeelding van kelk en ring en florale decoratie op veld onder tekst 'H.DRIJFHOUT & ZN' en met devies 'heb durf en zorg'. Op de verdieping aan weerszijden van de middenpartij een verdiept geplaatst venster met zware vierdeling en met gelede bovenlichten en hardstenen boven- en benedendorpel en kalf. Bij de tweede verdieping eveneens verdiept geplaatste vensters in verschillende uitvoering en deels met gelede bovenlichten. Gevelvlak boven de vensters met licht uitkragend bandwerk. De voorgevel wordt aan de linker- en rechterzijde afgesloten door een liseen.
Interieur. Voormalige kantoorruimte op de begane grond als lobby van het hotel met vestibule en ondiepe wandnissen en gewelf met bepleisterde spanten en vensters met glas-in-lood raamvulling.
Waardering Voormalige fabriek in edelmetalen met kantoren uit het begin van de twintigste eeuw van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische en typologische waarde. Met name de opzet, het materiaalgebruik en de monumentale ornamentiek van de voorgevel aan de Nes en de fraaie hal met aangrenzende ruimten op de begane grond zijn waardevol.

A former factory building with offices created on a complex ground plan and entirely surrounded by other buildings, consisting of three storeys above a basement. The highly monumental and symmetrical front facade is located on the Nes and consists entirely of sandstone and hard stone. Straight facade termination and further on this side finished flat. Front facade with heavy rustication with rough-hewn blocks of hard stone on smooth and high plinth. Central entrance with portico with wainscoting and with doorstep with three steps. On either side three narrow windows with railings. On both the left and right sides a slightly arched oak entrance door with grille. Cornice with floral decoration. Monumental central section above the central entrance with fantasy pilaster on consoles on the wall piers between the narrow windows and with heraldic decoration (coats of arms of Gaasterland and Amsterdam). Floral decoration and fantasy capital with volutes and on which main entablature with frieze with date stones '1827' and '1912' and with ornamental and cornice with spouts. Tall windows with articulated fanlight and centre window with surrounding articulation. Above the entrance a facade decoration with flanking female heads and figurative representation of chalice and ring and floral decoration on field under text 'H.DRIJFHOUT & ZN' and with motto 'heb durf en zorg'. On the floor level on either side of the central section a recessed window with heavy four-part division and with articulated fanlights and hard stone upper and lower lintels and calf. At the second storey equally recessed windows in different execution and partly with articulated fanlights. Facade surface above the windows with slightly projecting band. The front facade is terminated on the left and right sides by a pilaster strip.
Interior. Former office space on the ground floor as hotel lobby with vestibule and shallow wall niches and vault with plastered rafters and windows with leaded glass window infill.

Former factory in precious metals with offices from the beginning of the twentieth century of general importance for its architectural-historical and typological value. In particular the layout, the use of materials and the monumental ornamentation of the front facade on the Nes and the fine hall with adjoining rooms on the ground floor are valuable.
