Inleiding
Aan de Nieuwe Zijds Voorburgwal gelegen, nagenoeg ter hoogte van de Sint Luciënsteeg in 1896 tot stand gekomen POLITIEPOSTHUIS naar ontwerp in Chalet-trant van de toenmalige dienst der Publieke Werken van de gemeente Amsterdam. N.B. Van 1915 tot 1984 deed het gebouwtje dienst als openbaar dames- en herentoilet.
Omschrijving
Op een kruisvormige plattegrond tot stand gekomen, geheel in hout opgetrokken gebouwtje op een gemetselde plint. Pand bestaat uit één bouwlaag onder een zinken overstekend roevendak. In de nokken van de overstekken blauwgeverfd beschot, aan west- en oostzijde voorzien van houtsnijwerk. De overstekken aan noord- en zuidzijde worden afgesloten door een boogvormige en opengewerkte houtverbinding; die aan west- en oostzijde door een driehoeksverbinding. Nokpunten van de overstekken aan noord- en zuidzijde afgetopt. Ingang aan noordzijde.

A POLICE POST HOUSE situated on the Nieuwe Zijds Voorburgwal, almost at the height of the Sint Luciënsteeg, erected in 1896 designed in Chalet style by the then Public Works service of the municipality of Amsterdam. N.B. From 1915 to 1984 the little building served as a public ladies' and gentlemen's toilet.
Description
A little building erected on a cross-shaped ground plan, built entirely in wood on a brick plinth. Building consists of one storey under a zinc overhanging glazing-bar roof. In the ridges of the overhangs blue-painted boarding, on the west and east sides provided with wood carving. The overhangs on the north and south sides are closed by an arched and openwork wood connection; those on the west and east sides by a triangular connection. Ridge points of the overhangs on the north and south sides topped off. Entrance on the north side.
Valuation
Former police post house of general importance for its cultural-historical value as well as of importance for its typological and functional rarity value.
