1210 Inleiding
Op een vierkant terrein, rondom een groen binnenhof, in 1863-1864 opgetrokken woningbouwcomplex bestaande uit 36 woningen in neo-classicistische stijl naar een ontwerp van P.J. Hamer in opdracht van de in 1863 door J. van Eik opgerichte 'Stichting voor den Ambachtsstand-Constantiawoningen'. De woningen waren (kosteloos) bestemd voor 'werklieden ouder dan zestig jaar die minstens twaalf jaar bij één en dezefde patroon in enig vak van nijverheid waren werkzaam geweest'.
Omschrijving
Rondom een carré-vormig binnenhof uit baksteen opgebouwd woningbouwcomplex bestaande uit 2 bouwlagen onder een schilddak bedekt met zwarte pannen. Op regelmatige afstand van elkaar geplaatste hoog opgemetselde schoorstenen. Overstekende gootlijst met daaronder een over de gehele breedte van de gevel lopend fries met siervoluten. De middenpartij en de hoekpartijen zijn voorzien van lisenen van beurtelings baksteen en wit geschilderd pleisterwerk.
De voorgevel aan de Willemsstraat is symmetrisch met een licht naar voren springende middenpartij en hoekpartijen. De middenpartij wordt geflankeerd door gekoppelde, met afwisselend stuc en baksteen geblokte pilasters. Boven de middenpartij een gebogen, neo-maniëristisch, fronton waaronder in metselwerk 'CONSTANTIA' staat genoteerd. In de middenpartij toegang, voorzien met pleisterwerk en driehoekig fronton, tot overbouwde gang welke toegang naar de hof verleent. Boven de toegang een met metselwerk omringd kruisvenster. De vleugels tussen beide hoekpartijen en de middenrisaliet maken een gesloten indruk doordat de blinde vensters ver uit elkaar staan. Boven deze vensters gepleisterde sluitstenen. De hoekpartijen hebben tussen de beganegrond en de verdieping een gepleisterd fries. De kruisvensters zijn voorzien van gepeisterde hoek- en sluitstenen. Alle vensters op de verdieping voorzien van trekstangen. Dakkapellen met klauwstukken. In de gevel verder sierijzeren muurankers.
Aan de binnenhof is de ingangspartij eveneens geaccentueerd door geblokte lisenen met daarboven een breed fries waarop een opengewerkte toren met rondbogen aan alle vier zijden. Eveneens een fries tussen de verdiepingen. De toegangspoort is met pleisterwerk omgeven. Dit geldt tevens voor alle deuren op de beganegrond. Op de verdieping zijn de smallere kruisvensters aan de bovenzijde door pleisterwerk omgeven. Breed, met siervoluten voorzien, fries onder de overstekende dakgoot. Sierijzeren muurankers.
Waardering
In neo-classicistische stijl opgetrokken arbeiderswoningen van belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde alsmede van cultuurhistorisch belang als verenigingsbouw ten behoeve van bejaarde arbeiders.

A housing complex built of brick around a square inner courtyard consisting of 2 storeys under a hipped roof covered with black tiles. High chimneys placed at regular intervals.
