Inleiding
Een in 1883 opgetrokken hotel-café-restaurant naar ontwerp van J.F. Henkenhaf en F. Ebert, deel uitmakend van het complex Hotel Krasnapolsky. Rechts een in 1879-'80 naar ontwerp van G.B. Salm gebouwde ingangspartij tot de achter gelegen Wintertuin. In 1884 is het oorspronkelijk vier traveeën brede gebouw aan de linkerzijde tot vijf verbreed, waarbij de ingangspartij van Salm gekopieerd is.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekige plattegrond gebouwd pand, opgetrokken in gele baksteen en bestaande uit een uit voornamelijk natuursteen opgetrokken begane grond, drie verdiepingen afgesloten door een kroonlijst. De stijle kap aan de voorzijde is een recente wijziging, daarachter een schilddak. Het pand is, inclusief de toegangspartij van Salm zes traveeën breed met het architectonische accent op de beide ingangspartijen. De begane grond is voorzien van roodkleurig bandwerk op lisenen en een roodkleurige cordonlijst als markering naar eerste verdieping. De twee enigszins schuin naar achter geknikte buitenste traveeën - de linker is slechts één travee diep; de rechter betreft de ingangspassage van Salm - zijn voorzien van rondboogvormige openingen met leeuwenkoppen als sluitsteen gedragen door Ionische zuilen van graniet. Tussen de grote openslaande boogvensters met houten panelen op straatniveau eveneens granieten zuilen (het tweede venster van rechts is thans de ingang vanaf de Warmoesstraat). De zuilen staan op natuurstenen sokkels. De spaarvelden tussen de bogen zijn opgevuld met gestuct lofwerk. De twee buitenste traveeën worden verticaal gemarkeerd door lisenen voorzien van banden en blokken. Op de twee bovenste verdiepingen zijn ze gecannelleerd. Bij de ingangspassage bevindt zich in de rechter liseen, ter hoogte van de begane grond, een blok waar in (slecht leesbare) karmozijnrode letters is geschilderd: Maatsch. tot Expl. v/d Ondern. Krasnapolsky. Op de eerste verdieping banden van siermetselwerk. Op alle door cordonlijsten horizontaal onderverdeelde verdiepingen rechthoekige vensteropeningen met natuurstenen omlijstingen. Boven de straatverdieping bestaat de gevel uit gladgeperste gele baksteen. Op eerste verdieping in de buitenste traveeën rond balkon met ijzeren balustrade. Tussengelegen fenêtres à terres voorzien van natuurstenen fronton en aan de onderzijde van een natuurstenen balustrade met candelaberzuiltjes. Tussen de frontons smeedijzeren sierankers. In de twee buitenste traveeën op de tweede verdieping gekoppelde vensters met rondboogvormige bovenlichten. Interieur Witte Zaal: In de wandbetimmering boven de houten crème- en goudkleurig geschilderde lambrisering geschilderde landschappen en Rijngezichten op linnen van A. Graux. Schoorsteenmantels voorzien van spiegels tussen hermen en kariatiden. In de wandbetimmering een klok. Glas-in-lood vensters als afsluitende wand.

Description
A building erected on a rectangular ground plan, constructed in yellow brick and consisting of a ground floor built principally of natural stone, three storeys closed off by a cornice. The steep pitched roof at the front is a recent alteration; behind it a hipped roof. The building is, including the entrance section by Salm, six bays wide with the architectural emphasis on both entrance sections. The ground floor is provided with red-coloured banding on pilasters and a red-coloured string course as marking towards the first floor. The two outermost bays somewhat angled back – the left is only one bay deep; the right concerns the entrance passage by Salm – are provided with round-arched openings with lion heads as keystones supported by Ionic columns of granite. Between the large opening arched windows with wooden panels at street level likewise granite columns (the second window from the right is now the entrance from Warmoesstraat). The columns stand on natural stone bases. The spandrels between the arches are filled with stucco work. The two outermost bays are marked vertically by pilasters provided with bands and blocks. On the two upper storeys they are fluted. At the entrance passage there is in the right pilaster, at ground floor level, a block where (barely legible) crimson red letters are painted: Maatsch. tot Expl. v/d Ondern. Krasnapolsky. On the first floor bands of decorative brickwork. On all storeys subdivided horizontally by string courses rectangular window openings with natural stone surrounds. Above the street storey the gable consists of smooth-pressed yellow brick. On the first floor in the outermost bays round balcony with iron balustrade. Intervening fenêtres à terres provided with natural stone pediment and on the underside with a natural stone balustrade with candelabra columns. Between the pediments wrought iron ornamental anchors.
