Inleiding
Op de hoek van Grimburgwal en Oude Zijds Voorburgwal in 1875 tot stand gekomen gebouw voor twee WACHTKAMERS met ter rechterzijde aangebouwd POORTJE ten behoeve van de stads- en gasthuisapotheek en de polikliniek naar een ontwerp in Neo Hollandse Renaissance uit 1870 van A.N. Godefroy in opdracht van de regenten van Binnen- en Buitengasthuis. Het pand maakt deel uit van het complex Binnengasthuis.
N.B. Aan de rechterzijde bevond zich de wachtkamer voor de klanten van de stads- en gasthuisapotheek, aan de linkerzijde die voor de patiënten van de polikliniek.
Omschrijving
Op een rechthoekig grondplan en uit baksteen met natuurstenen decoraties opgetrokken gebouw voor twee wachtkamers, bestaan uit één bouwlaag onder een schilddak met pannen. De nok en de hoekkepers zijn aangezet met loodstrippen. Het gebouw staat op een natuurstenen plint en bestaat uit een bouwlaag en een kapverdieping. In het midden van het dak een gepleisterde, deels opengewerkte en volgens klassieke trant vormgegeven torentje voorzien van wijzerplaten en afgesloten door een torenhelm. Aan de onderzijde voorzien van het jaartal 1875, verwijzend naar het bouwjaar. Op beide hoeken van de nok een gemetseld rond torentje. De voorgevel is duidelijk in twee gelijke helften opgedeeld. De ingangen (twee) bevinden zich in de afgeschuinde zijden aan beide uiteinden van de voorgevel en zijn ieder voorzien van een ruitvormig onderverdeeld bovenlicht. De rechthoekige entree-openingen zijn voorzien van een hardstenen omlijsting. Elke wachtkamer is voorzien van een gekoppeld venster met segmentbogen op geblokte lisenen en een eveneens geblokt middenzuiltje. De ramen zijn voorzien van een gietijzeren decoratieve borstwering. De overgang naar de kapverdieping wordt aan de buitenzijde aangegeven door een hardstenen geprofileerde cordonband op sierconsoles. Beide wachtkamers worden afgesloten door een topgevel met oeil-de-boeuf. Het gebouw heeft een verhoogde attiek voorzien van op regelmatige afstand van elkaar geplaatste gepleisterde bekroningen op hardstenen sokkels. De gehele gevel is voorzien van spaarnissen van verschillend formaat en vorm, sluitstenen boven de vensters en cordonlijsten.
Ter rechterzijde loopt de architectuur inclusief detailleringen door in poortje met rechthoekige opening tussen geblokte lisenen. Bovenlicht voorzien van zwaar aangezette rondboog. Rechterzijgevel geheel gepleisterd.
Waardering
Voormalig gebouw voor twee wachtkamers met ter rechterzijde aangebouwd poortje is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde. Eveneens van belang als onderdeel van het Binnengasthuiscomplex.

Building erected in 1875 on the corner of Grimburgwal and Oude Zijds Voorburgwal for two WAITING ROOMS with a small GATEWAY built to the right for the service of the municipal and hospital pharmacy and the polyclinic, designed in Neo-Dutch Renaissance style in 1870 by A.N. Godefroy on commission of the governors of Binnen- and Buitengasthuis. The property forms part of the Binnengasthuis complex.

Description
On a rectangular ground plan and erected in brick with natural stone decorations, a building for two waiting rooms, consisting of one storey beneath a hipped roof with tiles. The ridge and hip rafters are set with lead strips. The building stands on a natural stone plint and consists of a storey and a roof chamber. In the middle of the roof a plastered, partly openwork tower shaped in classical style and provided with clock faces and closed off by a tower spire. At the underside provided with the date 1875, referring to the construction year. On both corners of the ridge a masoned round tower. The front facade is clearly divided into two equal halves. The entrances (two) are located in the angled sides at both ends of the front facade and are each provided with a diamond-divided fanlight. The rectangular entrance openings are provided with a hard stone frame. Each waiting room is provided with a coupled window with segmental arches on blocked lisenes and an equally blocked central pilaster. The windows are provided with a cast iron decorative balustrade. The transition to the roof chamber is indicated on the outside by a hard stone profiled string course on ornamental consoles. Both waiting rooms are closed off by a gable with oculus. The building has a raised attic provided with plastered crowning pieces on hard stone plinths placed at regular intervals. The entire facade is provided with recesses of different size and shape, keystones above the windows and string mouldings.
To the right the architecture including detailing continues through in a small gateway with rectangular opening between blocked lisenes. Fanlight provided with heavily set round arch. Right side facade entirely plastered.
Valuation
Former building for two waiting rooms with a small gateway built to the right is of general importance due to its architectural and cultural-historical value. Also of importance as part of the Binnengasthuis complex.
