Inleiding
Uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw daterend DIERENVERBLIJF (18) in oorsprong bestemd als moeflonstal onderdeel van het Artis-complex. De stal ligt nagenoeg op de grens tussen de westelijke en oostelijke helft van de aanleg ten zuiden van de middenas.
Omschrijving
Het bakstenen verblijf bestaat uit één bouwlaag op rechthoekig grondplan en heeft een zadeldak met bitumineuze dekking. Witgeschilderde windveer met accolades. Aan alle zijden een overstek op geprofileerde korbelen. Dakschilden hebben afwatering met zinken goten. Gepleisterde gevels. Korte zijden met licht getoogde toegang in kader van in pleisterwerk geïmiteerde ruw behakte blokken. Verder een rechthoekige blinde cassette en klein rond venster in eveneens rond en gebosseerd kader. Beide vensteropeningen alsmede een toegang aan de korte zijde zijn gedicht. Aan de west- en oostzijde lange gevel met in het midden een halfrond getoogde toegang in kader; aan weerszijden lagere toegang in kader. Eveneens gerusticeerd laaggelegen geveldeel. Aan de lange gevels verder grote metalen ruiven.

An ANIMAL ENCLOSURE (18) dating from the last quarter of the 19th century, originally intended as a mouflon stable, component of the Artis complex. The stable is located almost on the boundary between the western and eastern halves of the layout south of the central axis.
Description
The brick enclosure consists of one storey on a rectangular ground plan and has a gabled roof with bituminous covering. Whitewashed weather vane with accolades. On all sides an overhang on profiled corbels. Roof tiles have drainage with zinc gutters. Plastered facades. Short sides with slightly arched entrance in a frame of rusticated imitated rough-hewn blocks in plasterwork. Further a rectangular blind panel and small circular window likewise in round and bossed frame. Both window openings as well as an entrance on the short side are closed. On the west and east sides long facade with a semi-circular arched entrance in frame at the centre; on either side lower entrance in frame. Likewise rusticated low-lying facade section. On the long facades further large metal ventilation grilles.
