Inleiding
In 1877 over de zich in het midden versmallende Hortusvijver aangelegde vaste BRUG (met brugnummer 232). De ijzerconstructie is uitgevoerd door machinefabriek H. Dalhuizen te Kampen. De op + 1.18m NAP gelegde brug is bekend als de 'oostelijke Hortusbrug'.De brug is een onderdeel van het complex Hortus Botanicus
Omschrijving
Vaste ijzeren brug bestaande uit gebogen spanten met I-profiel op gemetselde landhoofden met natuurstenen afdekkingen. De brug wordt aan de buitenzijde afgesloten met een eenvoudig gietijzeren spijlenhek. Het hek draait met dubbele vleugels tussen stijlen met halfronde zijstukken. De bogen zijn door middel van verticale stijlen, kruislingse staven en haaks daarop staande S-vormige voluten met de onderliggende liggers verbonden. Het brugdek bestaat uit houten delen. De landhoofden hebben aan beide zijden nagenoeg rond uitgemetselde beëindigingen, bekroond door een zuilachtigornament waarop een vaas.

In 1877 a fixed BRIDGE (with bridge number 232) built across the Hortusvijver, which narrows in the middle. The iron structure was executed by machinery factory H. Dalhuizen in Kampen. Description
Fixed iron bridge consisting of curved spans with I-profile on brick abutments with natural stone coping. The bridge is closed on the outside with a simple cast-iron balustrade fence. The fence turns with double wings between posts with semicircular end pieces. The arches are connected to the underlying girders by means of vertical posts, diagonal rods and S-shaped volutes at right angles to them. The bridge deck consists of wooden parts. The abutments have on both sides nearly circular brick terminals, crowned by a column-like ornament on which stands a vase.
