Inleiding
Eenlaags WOONHUIS uit omstreeks 1850, met een aanbouw uit omstreeks 1880, gelegen op de voormalige vestingwerken, binnen het beschermde stadsgezicht Ravenstein.
Omschrijving
Het anderhalflaags pand op rechthoekige plattegrond wordt gedekt door een afgewolfd zadeldak, belegd met geglazuurde oud Hollandse pannen. De plint van de handvorm bakstenen gevels is zwart geschilderd. De voorgevel heeft vijf vensterassen. Centraal in de gevel is een kussenpaneeldeur opgenomen. Uit de afgezaagde smeedijzeren steekankers die in de voorgevel resteren kan men afleiden dat de balklaag in de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw verhoogd is. Toen is ook aan de achterzijde een in plattegrond onregelmatig rechthoekige aanbouw onder lessenaarsdak opgetrokken. Onder deze aanbouw bevindt zich een ondiepe kelder met troggewelfjes.
In het interieur is onder meer van belang de centrale gang, met tegen de achtergevel een negentiende-eeuws tegeltableau, waarop een man en paard in een landschap zijn afgebeeld.

Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de transformatie van vestingwerken en bijbehorend schootsveld in groene woongebieden en tuinen en heeft typologisch belang voor de ontwikkeling van het landelijke woonhuis. One-and-a-half-storey DWELLING HOUSE from around 1850, with an extension from around 1880, located on the former fortification works, within the protected historic townscape of Ravenstein.
Description
The building with a rectangular floor plan is covered by a segmental gabled roof, clad with glazed old Dutch tiles. The plinth of the handmade brick facades is painted black. The front facade has five window bays. Centrally in the facade a cushion-panel door is incorporated. From the sawn-off wrought-iron wall anchors that remain in the front facade one can infer that the floor level was raised in the second half of the nineteenth century. At that time an extension with an irregular rectangular floor plan and a half-hipped roof was also built on the rear. Beneath this extension is a shallow cellar with barrel-vaults.
In the interior, notably the central corridor is important, with against the rear facade a nineteenth-century tile panel, on which a man and horse are depicted in a landscape.
