Inleiding
Aan de zuidelijke zijde van de Blasiusweg staat, onderdeel uitmakend van het parochiële centrum van Zeilberg, een voormalig R.K. KLOOSTERGEBOUW. Het gebouw is een ontwerp van architect C. Roffelsen. Het bouwwerk dateert uit omstreeks 1915 en is blokvormig.
Omschrijving
Het kloostergebouw telt twee lagen en heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond. Het afgeplatte schilddak is gedekt met lei in Maasdekking. De gevels zijn gemetseld in baksteen en gedecoreerd met strengpersstenen motieven onder de hardstenen vensterdorpels. De voorgevel heeft een strakke symmetrische opzet met eensteens middenrisaliet, met in een ondiep portiek een kussenpaneel-vleugeldeur met geometrisch ingedeeld bovenlicht, gevat in een hardstenen omlijsting. Boven het portiek is in de risaliet een venster aangebracht, dat dezelfde roedenverdeling heeft als de overige vensters: een openslaand venster met achtdelig bovenlicht. De risaliet wordt aan beide zijden, zowel op de begane grond als op de etage, geflankeerd door een tweetal vensters, die een indeling hebben conform het venster in de risaliet. De gevel is aan de bovenzijde afgezet met een gepleisterd fries, overgaand in de gootlijst. Tegen het dakschild boven de risaliet staat een bakstenen dakkapel met natuurstenen wangen, deklijst en rondboogblindnis, waarin een beeld van de H. Maria geplaatst is. Aan weerszijden van deze kapel staan twee houten dakkapellen, alle voorzien van een pediment. De zijgevels zijn onregelmatig geleed met bakstenen lisenen.
Tegen het oostelijke en westelijke dakvlak zijn hoge schoorstenen aangebracht. De achtergevel heeft openslaande deuren en op de verdieping een kruisvenster. Tegen de achtergevel staat een uitbouw onder zadeldak, met vlechtingen in de topgevel, en een tweelaags uitbouw onder plat dak.
Waardering
Het klooster is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een geestelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de bloei van orden en congregaties in de periode kort na 1900 en is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het congregatieklooster. Het is architectuurhistorisch van belang vanwege de eenvoud van stijl, het materiaalgebruik en is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van het werk van de architect Roffelsen. Het is relatief gaaf bewaard gebleven en is als congregatieklooster langzamerhand zeldzaam geworden.

On the southern side of the Blasiusweg stands, forming part of the parochial centre of Zeilberg, a former R.K. CONVENT BUILDING. The building is a design by architect C. Roffelsen. The structure dates from around 1915 and is block-shaped.
Description
The convent building has two storeys and a rectangular floor plan. The flat hipped roof is covered with slate in Dutch bond. The facades are built in brick and decorated with moulded-brick motifs beneath the hardstone window drip mouldings. The front facade has a strict symmetrical layout with a one-brick central projecting section, with in a shallow portico a cushion-panel wing door with geometrically glazed fanlight, set in a hardstone frame. Above the portico a window is placed in the projecting section, which has the same glazing bars as the other windows: an opening window with eight-paned fanlight. The projecting section is flanked on both sides, both on the ground floor and on the upper floor, by a pair of windows, which have a glazing pattern in accordance with the window in the projecting section. The facade is set off at the top with a plastered frieze, merging into the gutter line. Against the roof hip above the projecting section stands a brick roof dormer with natural stone sides, cornice and round-arched blind niche, in which an image of the Virgin Mary is placed. On either side of this chapel stand two wooden roof dormers, all provided with a pediment. The side facades are irregularly articulated with brick pilasters.
Against the eastern and western roof slopes high chimneys are installed. The rear facade has opening doors and on the upper floor a cross window. Against the rear facade stands an extension under gabled roof, with diagonal brickwork in the stepped gable, and a two-storey extension under flat roof.
Valuation
The convent is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as an example of a spiritual development, namely the flourishing of religious orders and congregations in the period shortly after 1900 and is also of importance as an example of the typological development of the congregation convent. It is architecturally significant because of the simplicity of style, the use of materials and is also of importance as an example of the work of architect Roffelsen. It has been preserved in relatively good condition and as a congregation convent has gradually become rare.
