Aan de oostzijde van het voormalige Gymnasium bevindt zich een TRANSFORMATORHUIS met aangebouwde, overdekte fietsenstalling.
Het op een bakstenen plint staande trafogebouw bezit een bouwlaag op een vierkant grondvlak. De massa wordt besloten door een luifelachtige, ruim overkragende betonnen afdekking.
De op de hoek gelegen toegangspartij en de drie, in de naast gelegen gevel aangebrachte vertikale raamstroken worden eveneens door een kleine luifel benadrukt.
De voorgevel (westzijde) is vierkant van opzet, waarbij links in het gevelvlak twee, door een smalle muurdam van elkaar gescheiden, stalen deuren toegang geven tot de spanningsruimten. Hierboven is een luifel aangebracht. Een bakstenen trede wordt aan de rechterzijde met een lage bloembak besloten.
De eveneens vierkante, linker zijgevel bevat rechts, onder een luifel de drie vertikale raamstroken.
In het midden van de rechter zijgevel bevindt zich, onder een luifel, een stalen deur die via een bakstenen trede bereikbaar is. Boven de deur zijn twee kleine, vierkante ventilatie openingen.
Tegen de blinde achtergevel bevindt zich een lange bouwmassa bestemd als fietsenstalling. Dit in zeven traveeën ingedeelde volume bestaat uit bakstenen kolommen die aan de bovenzijde licht zijn ingesnoerd. Hierop liggen zes zware, uitkragende betonnen draagbalken met daarboven een overkragend, plat dak. De eerste, aan het trafohuis rakende travee, is van oorsprong dichtgemetseld met in het midden van de rechter gevel een deur.
Waardering
Het transformatorhuis met fietsenstalling is van algemeen belang vanwege zijn architectuurhistorische waarde als gaaf voorbeeld van een trafogebouw, door architect Van der Tak ontworpen met invloeden van de architectuur van W.M. Dudok en het zakelijk expressionisme.
Het gebouw bezit als onderdeel van het complex een ensemblewaarde.

On the east side of the former Gymnasium is located a TRANSFORMER HOUSE with attached, covered bicycle shed.
The trafo building, standing on a brick plinth, has one storey on a square ground plan. The mass is enclosed by a canopy-like, generously overhanging concrete covering.
The entrance section located at the corner and the three vertical window strips installed in the adjacent facade are also emphasised by a small canopy.
The front facade (west side) is square in composition, with two steel doors on the left in the facade plane, separated from one another by a narrow wall pier, providing access to the voltage rooms. Above this a canopy is installed. A brick step is terminated on the right side with a low planter box.
The likewise square, left side facade contains on the right, beneath a canopy, the three vertical window strips.
In the middle of the right side facade is located, beneath a canopy, a steel door which is accessible via a brick step. Above the door are two small, square ventilation openings.
Against the blind rear facade is a long building mass intended as a bicycle shed. This volume, divided into seven bays, consists of brick columns which are slightly tapered at the top. Upon these lie six heavy, projecting concrete beams with above them an overhanging, flat roof. The first bay, adjoining the trafo house, is originally solid brick with a door in the middle of the right facade.
Valuation
The transformer house with bicycle shed is of general importance on account of its architectural-historical value as a pristine example of a trafo building, designed by architect Van der Tak with influences from the architecture of W.M. Dudok and businesslike expressionism.
The building possesses, as a component of the complex, ensemble value.
