Inleiding
De Ir. De Kock van Leeuwensluis is gebouwd in 1940-1941. Het sluizencomplex is gebouwd in het kader van de grootscheepse verbetering van de Gouwe.
Het betreft een in de Nieuwe Gouwe (de 1ste Coupure van de Gouwe uit 1898-1903) liggende combinatie van een schutsluis en een keersluis annex spuisluis-inlaatsluis, die van groot belang is voor de waterhuishouding van de stad en de stadsboezem. Het bij de sluizen behorende gebouwtje had oorspronkelijk de functie van SCHOTBALKENLOODS, maar dient tegenwoordig als sluiswachtersonderkomen.
Omschrijving
De voormalige loods is opgetrokken op rechthoekige grondslag en bestaande uit een betonnen onderbouw, die in het water staat, en een in schone baksteen opgetrokken bovenbouw onder een uitkragend, met pannen gedekt schilddak, waarvan de nokken zijn gedekt met ballonvorsten. De gevelopeningen zijn rechtgesloten en staan tussen lateien en onderdorpels van beton.
De naar de weg gekeerde langsgevel is voorzien van vier, regelmatig over de gevel verdeelde vensters. De noord-westelijke kopgevel bevat een stel openslaande deuren met rechts ervan een smal venster. De op het water georiënteerde langsgevel wordt in het midden doorsneden door een risaliet met een schilddakvormige steekkap. De risaliet is ingevuld met een om de hoek lopende vensterpartij, waardoor een onbelemmerd uitzicht naar alle kanten wordt verkregen. De entree bevindt zich rechts van de risaliet. Er links van staat een reeks van drie, gekoppelde smalle vensters. De zuid-oostelijke kopgevel bevat een in het midden staand groter venster en een smal venster er links van.

The Ir. De Kock van Leeuwensluis was built in 1940-1941. The lock complex was built as part of a major improvement programme for the Gouwe.

The long side facade oriented towards the water is cut through in the middle by a pavilion with a hipped-roof-shaped projection. The pavilion is filled with a window arrangement running around the corner, which provides an unobstructed view in all directions. The entrance is located to the right of the pavilion. To the left of it stands a series of three coupled narrow windows. The south-eastern end gable contains a larger window in the middle and a narrow window to the left of it.
