Inleiding
Het WOONHUIS uit 1898 gebouwd in Eclectische stijl naar ontwerp van architect H.J. Nederhorst maakt deel uit van complex van twee blokken woningen aan het Regentesseplantsoen, aan de binnenzijde van de singel van Gouda.
Het Regentesseplantsoen heette bij de bouw kattensingelplantsoen. Na een bezoek van regentesse Emma kreeg het plantsoen zijn huidige naam.
N.B. Regentesseplantsoen 29 is in de jaren vijftig/zestig van de 20ste eeuw verbouwd. In het interieur zijn dan ook weinig oorpsronkelijke elementen aanwezig.
Omschrijving
Het woonhuisblok, dat twee woningen bevat, is zeven traveeen breed en bestaat uit twee bouwlagen met zolderverdieping onder een afgeplat schilddak met rode Hollandse pannen bedekt; boven de voorgevel dakkapellen; steekkappen boven topgevels. Pand opgetrokken in rode baksteen in kruisverband. Voorgevel gedecoreerd met hardstenen plint en kunststenen speklagen, aanzet- en sluitstenen in bogen boven vensters op verdieping. Rechter zijgevel gepleisterd.
De symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel heeft iets risalerend middengedeelte afgesloten met overstekende houten dakgoot. De geveldelen op de hoeken iets terugliggend, voorzien van topgevels met overstekend zadeldak met decoratief houten hangwerk. Oorspronkelijk voorzien van schuiframen met roedenverdeling in bovenlichten; sommige ramen gekoppeld met bewerkte houten tussenstijlen. Houten deuren met rooster.
INTERIEUR Het interieur van woning met huisnummer 28 is grotendeels originele indeling. Vermeldenswaard zijn stucplafonds, marmeren schouwen, geetst glas in tochtdeur; marmeren bekleding van de gang.

Het woonhuis Regentesseplantsoen 28;29 is van algemeen belang vanwege architectuurhistorische, cultuurhistorische, stedenbouwkundige waarde:

Introduction
The RESIDENTIAL HOUSE built in 1898 in Eclectic style designed by architect H.J. Nederhorst forms part of a complex of two blocks of dwellings on the Regentesseplantsoen, on the inner side of the canal ring of Gouda.
The Regentesseplantsoen was called kattensingelplantsoen at the time of construction. After a visit by regentess Emma, the plantsoen received its present name.
N.B. Regentesseplantsoen 29 was rebuilt in the nineteen-fifties/nineteen-sixties of the 20th century. Consequently, few original elements are present in the interior.
Description
The residential house block, which contains two dwellings, is seven bays wide and consists of two storeys with attic storey under a hipped roof covered with red Dutch tiles; above the front facade roof dormers; gable dormer windows above gable ends. Building constructed of red brick in English bond. Front facade decorated with stone plinth and artificial stone quoins, respond and closing stones in arches above windows on the upper storey. Right side facade rendered.
The symmetrically arranged front facade has a slightly projecting central section closed off with overhanging wooden eaves. The facade sections at the corners slightly recessed, provided with gable ends with overhanging gabled roofs with decorative wooden hanging ornaments. Originally provided with sash windows with glazing bars in fanlights; some windows coupled with worked wooden mullions. Wooden doors with grille.
INTERIOR The interior of the dwelling numbered 28 is largely of original layout. Noteworthy are stucco ceilings, marble mantlepieces, etched glass in draught door; marble cladding of the hall.
