Inleiding
TOEGANGSHEK van de aan de noordkant van de Waardsedijk in 1829 gestichte begraafpla voor de Hervormde gemeente. Het gietijzeren hek werd omstreeks 1829 in Den Haag vervaardigd door de ijzergieterij De Prins van Oranje. De gevleugelde zandlopers zijn een verwijzing naar de vergankelijkheid van het leven.
Omschrijving
Het toegangshek bestaat uit twee hekpijlers in de vorm van zuilen, die worden bekroond door gevleugelde zandlopers. Op de voet van de rechterpijler staat `IJzergieterij De Prins van Oranje te `s Hage'. De draaibare hekdelen bestaan uit met pieken eindigende stijlen die aan de onderzijde zijn vermeerderd met kortere spijlen. De bovenzijde van beide hekdelen vormen in gesloten toestand in het midden een spiegelvormige afsluiting; naar de hoeken aflopend wordt deze vorm als contraboog herhaald.
Waardering
Het toegangshek is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als gaaf voorbeeld van een gietijzeren hek van een nationaal bekende ijzergieterij. Het hek met doodssymboliek is van cultuurhistorische waarde welke is verbonden met de funeraire geschiedenis. Van situationele waarde vanwege de ligging aan de Waardsedijk ter afsluiting van de begraafplaats.

ACCESS GATE of the cemetery established in 1829 on the north side of the Waardsedijk for the Reformed congregation. The cast iron gate was manufactured around 1829 in The Hague by the iron foundry De Prins van Oranje. The winged hourglasses are a reference to the transience of life.
Description
The access gate consists of two gate pillars in the form of columns, which are crowned by winged hourglasses. On the base of the right pillar stands 'Iron Foundry De Prins van Oranje at 's Hage'. The rotating gate sections consist of styles ending in spikes which are supplemented at the bottom with shorter bars. The top of both gate sections form in closed position in the centre a mirror-shaped closure; tapering towards the corners this form is repeated as a counter-arch.

The access gate is of general importance due to its architectural-historical value as a well-preserved example of a cast iron gate by a nationally renowned iron foundry.
