Inleiding.
NUMMERPAAL, vervaardigd en geplaatst door rijkswaterstaat in de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw in Ambachtelijk-Traditionele stijl. De nummerpaal is een zeldzaam relict uit de situatie van voor de kanalisatie van de Bergse Maas (1888-1904).
Omschrijving.
De nummerpaal bevindt zich aan de binnendijkse kant (westzijde) van de Hoge Maasdijk in de noordoostelijke punt van het gemeentegebied.
De hardstenen nummerpaal heeft een gebeitelde inscriptie "Waterstaat No. 362". Vierkante grondslag met afgeschuinde hoeken, uitkragend gedeelte met inscriptie en met afgeronde top. De nummerpaal steekt circa 80 centimeter boven het maaiveld uit.
Waardering.
De nummerpaal is van algemeen belang wegens de cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van de geografische en landschappelijke ontwikkelingen waaraan dit gebied heeft blootgestaan door met name de kanalisatie van de Bergse Maas.
De nummerpaal is van belang vanwege de zeldzaamheid van dergelijk straatmeubilair.

NUMBERED MARKER, manufactured and placed by Rijkswaterstaat in the second half of the nineteenth century in Artisanal-Traditional style. The numbered marker is a rare relic from the situation prior to the canalisation of the Bergse Maas (1888-1904).
Description.
The numbered marker is located on the inner-bank side (west side) of the Hoge Maasdijk at the north-eastern corner of the municipal area.
The hard stone numbered marker has a chiselled inscription "Waterstaat No. 362". Square ground plan with bevelled corners, projecting section with inscription and with rounded top. The numbered marker projects approximately 80 centimetres above ground level.
Valuation.
The numbered marker is of general importance because of its cultural-historical value as a particular expression of the geographical and landscape developments to which this area has been subjected, particularly by the canalisation of the Bergse Maas.
The numbered marker is important because of the rarity of such street furniture.
